Hey guys, I'm Dave, 19 and in Aberystwyth in the UK. Well, thats the greeting done!  Smiley

Now for the FSX questions. I'm entirely new to FSX and have a few questions. All about AI. Here we go...

1. I've managed to change the textures on most of the default AI aircraft (A321, B737, B747 & CRJ-700) but how many real liveries is it possible to make the AI use, most of the guides seem to say that it is only possible to replace the FSX default AI liveries with and not add any more. Is this true and if not how do I add more?

2. Is it possible to add 3rd party aircraft to the default AI ones used by FSX? It gets a bit repetitive when all I have is A321 after B737 after B737 after A321 and so on and so on.

3. AI density and air traffic. Is there a way to vary the amount of aircraft at airports according to their size? As I have it at the moment (100% AI aircraft density) it's pretty realistic at airports like Heathrow but smaller provincial airports like Cardiff are far too busy.

4. And finally. The iFDG models, can they work in FSX?

Thanks for any help recieved.

Hi Dave!!  Cool

1 & 2 --> Yes. --> http://www.world-of-ai.com/

Check out that, as they have TONS of add-ons for AI. Take a look around there and I think you'll have your first couple questions answered.

3. Maybe? I have no idea.

4. No idea, seems their forum has crashed so any information stored there has been lost. I say just try it.

Welcome to Sim-V!! Enjoy your
(indefinite)
stay!

Thanks for the pointer to World of AI, it's amazing.  Huh

But one more question...

Is it possible to get ground services to interact with the player aircraft?

Cheers

Dave

You can have fuel-trucks, push-back, baggage-handlers and moving gateways.

Just make sure they appear (by rising the settings - can't remeber the correct one for now: is it realism?!) and let them do whatever you want them to (have a look at your key-settings to be sure):

shift + p (+ a number for left-right): pushback truck

shift(?) + f: fuel truck

and opening the cargo-/ doors (shift + e + some number): cargo/baggage trucks/gateway

just two things: make sure you're exactly at parking position, and they won't show up on small arifields - but that should be clear...

with engines OFF and parking break set, press "J" to call the Jetbridge / jetway to your plane.  If your engines are running and Parking Break is not set... the gate agent will not pull the bridge to the plane until you do.

Thanks for all the help so far. But yet one more question.

Installing scenery. I'm following the instruction in the read-me file and the guide on this site but all to no avail. What am I doing wrong?

Cheers  Smiley

Right, about the responces.

The OS I'm using is 7. I follow the guides and when I get to select the source for the new scenery FSX wont actually select anything.

As for the iFDG aircraft. I'm installing them as per normal aircraft and they simply dont show up. Its not like they are showing up with errors, they are just not even appearing in the A/C selection screen.

The procedure is slightly different in Windows 7. This should explain it. http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=4426

1) you have to shut the engines off and save the flight (mark 'make this default flight' [or anything similar]) -no other way to start cold 'n dark...

2) should be possible by tweaking the fsx.cfg - it's possible I'm sure but I don't know how...  Tongue
