After all who does night missions in CFS2?  

OMG!  I do!  I do!  What have I been missing?    You can fly night missions and trackdown the evil night bombers.   I do'ed it!  WOW, what a rush.  Maybe there's something to this night fighter business after all.  

Damn!  It's one o'them vampire things! 

We're making some progress....tweaking and skinning is next...she'll have US and Brit colors to wear.  Just going to do the base P-70 Nighthawk.

I just got this baby uploaded in record time thanks to Sopwith's lightning airbrush.   She should be available tomorrow in the download que.  PLEASE RTFM...it's worth your while.   

She comes with the 6th Night Fighter Sqdrn skin (Dusty a P-70), 3-Mile/Port Moresby '43 and an alternate in an aircraft from 23 Sqdrn, RAF Ford '43 (a Havoc II).  These aircraft are equipped with the Brit AI Mk IV long-wave radar, AKA SCR-540 in the US.

The Nighthawk served as a stopgap night fighter in the Pacific and Europe until more appropriate dedicated types came into service.

Her panel has a nice AP and RDF set, and see the Notes and Checklist for massive amounts of flight and nav data.

The cannon (4x20mm)  are on the gun trigger for convenience, and the guns (2x.50) on the cannon trigger.

Just gets better and better!

Which reminds me...I'm going to post one further version of the P-70 in the form of the P-70B.  She was a C model A-20 that carried the US's new SCR-720 radar with a dish antenna in the nose.   So much neater.  Be up in a couple of days. 

We're getting there on some of the early vairants.  Talk about E-S-O-T-E-R-I-C models...but they're pretty! 

This one will eventually end up as a DB-7/Boston.

It is a little known fact that RAF 22 Squadron Nightfighters trained in the US on the P-70.  However, their aircraft were late being delivered in England, and they were equipped with standard A-20s and redesignated as a Photo Recon outfit.
