I have heard that is a marketing scheme and not so much cheap software/hardware. I have always just kept printing until I see the quality degrade.
Flying with twins is a lot of fun..

If you think about it, this makes absolute no sense what-so-ever. Why would ink company's' put half more then what they want you to have, why not just put half less.
