I've been using FS9 for a long time, but I've never been able to successfully load a flight plan into FS9. I download my FS9 flightplans, and I'm not sure where I place them in the FS9 folder in order to load them via the "flight planning - > load " tool in FS. Where do I place the flight plan file?

Can you provide an example of "flightplans" you have downloaded?

I think you may be confusing "flightplans" for AI aircraft with a flightplan you have created in FS and then saved - to be loaded again later.

They are two completely different animals.

I apologize for not elaborating in further detail... These flight plans are for me, not ai aircraft. Lets say I was doing a flight from KEWR-KORD, and I then search and download a flight plan via simroutes.com. that flight plan is a .pln file. I then place it somewhere in my FS9 folder. I load up fs and go to flight planner - > load flight plan. When I select the one I had downloaded, it gives me an error message, I just believe Im placing the .pln file in a wrong section or there is a designated place where it needs to be in order for it to work.

Have you tried placing them in your

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files

folder?

That is where plans created from within FS2004 are saved.

EDIT added:  You can also open any PLN file using Notepad.  I just checked a couple of mine and noticed that they referenced the Version of FS2004 which I am using (9.1).

I do not know if that is significant or not but you might want to look a some of those you downloaded and see if the Version number matches what you are running.

Might not make any difference at all but perhaps worth checking.
