Have win 7. When trying to load fs 2004 the program asks for disk 4 then nothing happens. Task manager says the process is running but nothing is on the screen. Any ideas?
Thanks.

it might be that your disk 4 is scratched.  even a small scratch can cause flight sim to kick back an error such as "please insert disk 4" .

1 other thing that i guess should be asked.. when you insert the disk, does your CDROM sound like it spools up like it is trying to read then it stops? or does it make any sound at all???

- Have you updated the drivers for your CDROM lately? if you did, then it might have caused your cdrom to act up.   if not, i would check your DEVICE MANAGER to see if it is being recognized and that there are no problems that it sees.

Try using an exe. file for the game which doesn't require the use of disk 4 Shocked (oops!......did I say that out loud? Wink)

if you are running XP or VISTA..... right click on MY COMPUTER > PROPERTIES > HARDWARE > DEVICE MANAGER

if you see any
?
let us know what it is.  also, check your "DVD/CDROM DRIVES" to make sure they are functioning properly.

(another dumb check to run on your CDrom drive... take a music Cd and pop it in there to see if it plays.  if it does, then it is most likely your FS Disk 4 is messed up.)

there is a .EXE that is "controversial" in the FS world that you can download to make your FS9.EXE actually act like an .EXE and you not need the 4th disk.  All that I am going to tell you is go look on www.FLYAWAYSIMULATION.COM for it.

Hint......   it is file name fs91_nocd.zip

Thanks.

I assume this has worked on another platform previously?

The other thought is that I have run into corruption problems in the past and this led me to reinstall the entire package. However, you will need to go into the FS9 folder and save any add-on aircraft, scenery, gauges and effects or these will need to be re-downloaded.  Cheesy

How long are you waiting before deciding that "nothing" is happening?
Remember, that it takes some time before the program has fully loaded to the point of being able to run, and with more add-ons included, it takes even longer.

Are the indicator lights on your Hard Drive and CD ROM Drive flashing intermittently?
If so, it means that the program is loading.

(I presume that the Graphics Card is displaying your Desktop OK?).
