The sheriff of a small town was also the town's veterinarian.
One night his wife answered the phone and an agitated
voice inquired, "Is your husband there?"
"Do you require his services as a sheriff or as a vet," the wife
asked?
"Both," the caller replied, "We can't get our dog's
mouth open and there's a burglar in it."

Good dog.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Hehe.
Not unlike story I heard once,
an old woman with a Big German Shepard that she kept in the basement when she went out. It was completely dark down there, and the dog would usually just sleep.
She came home one day and brought the dog up, but he was having trouble breathing. He was choking.
She took him to the vet down the street, and they pulled a severed finger from his throat.
The vet called the police for her, and they found a very terrified nine fingered man, in the corner of the basement, on the verge of going into shock.

it was her husband who locked himself out of the house and had to crawl through the basement window to get back into the house.
