I want to see if this works for everyone

Note this will only work with 7 digit phone numbers and you must press equals after each step. Wink

1. Type the first 3 numbers of your phone number in a calculator
2. Times that by 80
3. Add 1
4. Times by 250
5. Plus the last 4 digits of your number
6. Plus the last 4 digits of your number again
7. Subtract 250
8. Divide by 2

does the number look familiar? Shocked Grin

I either have an 11 digit phone number or a 6 digit (excluding area code) so how does that work then?

It doesn't. It only works if you have a 7 digit phone number, as in, live in the US or Canada.

Worked for me! Cheesy

I believe that would be included in 'followed the instructions to the letter'.  Roll Eyes

...all you're really doing is multiplying the first 3 digits by 10,000 and adding on the last 4. So unless you have just effectively defied the axioms of mathematics (in which case I would need every bit of detail and publish that baby) or your calculator is broken Grin

look here Chris Angel!! quit looking up US phone numbers to see if this will work! you need to quit with the math and go fly FS9/X more!  or even better go get a job where math is not required.

Spoiler Alert

Many of these tricks use variations of the same mechanic. Once you know the trick it takes all of 5 minutes to break it down... or make a new one. It's all algebra:

Take a phone number (ex. 123-4567)
Break that down into x-y (ex. x = 123, y = 4567)

Now write out the steps like you would an algebra problem:
(((x * 80) + 1) * 250 + y + y - 250) / 2

Now start simplifying:
((80x + 1) * 250 + y + y - 250) / 2
(20,000x + 250 + y + y - 250) / 2
(20,000x + 250 + 2y - 250) / 2
(20,000x + 2y) / 2
10,000x + y

That'd give you an answer in the format of XXXYYYY, same ast the phone number you started with... This one only works properly when y is 4 digits or less, which is why it only works for 7 digit phone numbers.
