I've installed Bill Melichar's FS2004, Kahului International Airport, Maui, Hawaii..PHOG.  I don't see any aircraft using it & have a LOT of WoAI packages installed so was surprised not to see some American airlines there.  I have WoAI Hawaiian Airlines but don't see that there.

I checked parking spots with Afcad 2.21 & find that the 7 spots in front of the main building don't have airline codes.  If I put HAL into one, will Hawaiian show up?   I'm assuming the flight plan will include PHOG but haven't checked it....don't know how to ;-(

Thanks for any tips....

There are two things which need to be done to have AI aircraft show up at the proper locations.

1. The proper Airline Code needs to be added to the parking spot(s).  Those spots must be of sufficient radius for the aircraft in question - i.e. a 737 will not be directed to a spot which has a radius suited for a Cessna 172.

2. The matching code must be in the aircraft.cfg file(s) - for the variation which may have a flight plan taking it to and/or from the airport in question.

These two lines need to be present for each variation that should park at a particular area at the airport:

atc_parking_types=GATE
atc_parking_codes=AAL  (or whatever airline you are working with - the code must match what you put in the afcad)

If all the above are correct, then ATC "should" direct the AI aircraft properly if there is sufficient parking spaces.

To determine what radius is required, use the aircraft editor option in AFCAD - it is under the tools menu.  Scroll down the list which will be displayed until you find the aircraft you need to know about. Hightlite it and the screen will show great deal of information, including the required radius.

Hope these thoughts are useful.

Hello Dave.  I've a lot to learn & thanks for your tips.  I did change date & time to August & evening, & see a Delta & US Airways 737 at the main terminal & a United & North west 737 in cargo spots.   I haven't seen Hawaiian yet which WoAI say uses PHOG....I'll check out your info when I get back later today.

I just checked my PHOG setup (with WOAI Hawaii installed) and see several aircraft there in the mid to late afternoon.

One of the best tools you can use to check and watch AI traffic is the free TrafficToolbox utility from Microsoft.  You can get it here:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/8/f287f6a9-1cb3-4067-a720-0bdaf3543ff...

Install it anywhere and then place a copy of the Traffictoolbox.dll in yiur Modules folder.

You will then have a new tab on the menu bar at the top of your screen named Tools.  Under it you will find several options. The two I use the most are "settings" which allows you to change a nunber of AI pararameters while you are flying and the "explorer".  This will bring up a list of all AI aircraft which are active in the area. Their "state" (sleep, taxi out, take off, enroute, landing, taxi in etc.) is shown as well as departure and destination and estimated times.

Click on any of them will put you in a spot view of that aircraft and you can adjust the view with your hat switch or keyboard.

That is how I was able to determine when I should be seeing Hawaiian Airlines at PHOG.

Hope that helps.   Smiley

Thanks Dave.  I did get Trafficltoolbox when you told me about it some time ago.  I did have a quick play then & have just done so now at PHOG with explorer.   However,  I do have a Delta, USAirways, AA, & 2 Uniteds at the jetway terminal  - time with me 16.50hrs.  3 GA are over by the tower.   This is the most I've seen here but oddly no Hawaiian, which my ACA2005 tells me is installed.  Did that 2 days ago.
One thing occurs to me - if I have say, summer schedules 2008 for Hawaii, I've assumed this will be flown all year round, but it won't if it's not a winter one?  If I'm there in the winter I shouldn't see aircraft?   See how much I've not sussed out yet!!!

(I'll PM you about KaiTak AI....)

The "schedule" only refers to the real world flight plans which were in effect at that time - not when the aircraft should fly.  i.e. if it says summer of 07, that just means these are plans which were being used at that time.

Hope that is not too confusing.
