I am a long time Premium Member.  When I download off the "new stuff" page I can download as a premium member.  When I BROWSE thru a list of files, e.g. FSX Original AC, and then select a file for DL I can then download as a Premium Member.

If I go to a file library section, e.g. FSX Scenery and request a search I see that I am still logged on as a Premium Member BEFORE I start the search.  After the Search returns a list of files meeting my criteria I see that I am no longer logged in as a Premium Member.

When I try to download I do get the DL file but it is very slow.

If I take the URL of the file I want to DL and plug it into the address line on a page showing me logged in as a Premium Member and hit enter I end up in the file library with the correct file to download but AGAIN! I am not logged in as a Premium Member.

So - how do I get to file I want to download and stay logged in as a Premium Member??

Sorry to hear of this . This did not used to be the case so if it is happening a bug must have crept into the search script.

I will take a look ....

_____________
Update:

OK - I have logged in as a member - went to the 'Search' link at top of page and search for a plane -- results returned for both dynamic and archive site and I am still in the member section and therefore get member downloads in both sections. I started a download to see & all was fine - member speeds.

My question is - how are you accessing the search page? It could be that somewhere in the members site there is a 'search' link that links to the free area search page.

The problem is intermittent and has several symptoms.

Yesterday the problem worked as I described.  I did notice that when I clicked on “File Library”  I did not get the normal AVSIM Library  page with the Quick Search and Extended Search options.  Unfortunately, today I can not tell you what page I did get to start the search.

I then logged off, closed the Chrome Browser (4.0.249.43) and then restarted the Browser, logged back into AvSim and had no problems with the downloads.

Today I am logged in as a Premium User and cannot duplicate the problem I had yesterday.   However, TODAY I am experiencing another, and I think related, problem that frequently happens.

Today,  did a search of the FSX scenery library for “Everest” and got two hits (everest_p1.zip and everest_p2.zip).   When I click on the Download Button for everest_p1 (I am still logged in as a Premium User) I get the “AVISIM Library – Oops! …. File unavailable “ message” and nothing I do allows me to download it.

I know the everest_p1 file is available because I downloaded it yesterday.

Occasionally – when I have the problem listed above if I do a Back Arrow and Forward Arrow (Chrome Browser) the download succeeds.  But not today!

When I click on everest_p2 I can download it as a logged in Premium Member.

I then repeated the sequence of actions in Internet Explorer (8.0.301.18865) and have the same problem with not being able to download everest_p1.zip.

Sorry about the vague and changing problem descriptions.  If I get any more details I will send them along to you, otherwise – TODAY the AVSIM Library Search function is working normally – other than “unavailable files:

Thanks for the great web site!

OK – I was able to duplicate the problem I had yesterday – i.e., logged on as a Premium User then going to a download page and finding I am no logged logged in as a Premium User.

The problem happened when I was logged in as a Premium User in a thread (http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=66042&st=50&start=50) and used a link found in that thread (post #66 by Holger) that took  me to http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery78.htm  where I then selected a file to download (http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery78.htm) - at that point I was no longer logged in as a Premium User IN THAT TAB – but I was still a Premium User in the original TAB.

SO  I returned to the TAB where I was still a logged in Premium User and  I pasted the URL of the desired file into that TAB’s address bar.  That took me to the “Scenery page 78”  where I was no longer logged in as a Premium User.    I then scrolled down to the desired file and clicked on it.   When the browser took me to the desired URL/download file – I was no longer logged in as a Premium User – but again, it was in a NEW TAB.

But – if I go back to the AvSim homepage, go to file library, and do a proper search for “Sandmann  Annapurna”  I get the desired results.

BUT!!  When I click on Download I get the “AVSIM Library – Oops!  File Unavailable….”  Message and CANNOT download it.

WHEN I then plug the file URL into the (http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery78.htm) into the address bar of the TAB that says unavailable – I get a page that does allow me to download it.  – But I am still not logged in as a Premium User.

SO – In this case I can find the file as a Premium User and can try to download it but am told it is unavailable for download.  I can then find the file as a “non-Premium User” and am allowed to download it.

HELP!

Obviously I AM AN IDIOT!!!

The threads I am referring to started in the AVSIM forum but I then ended up in the SIMAVIATION LIBRARY without ever having logged in .  I did not notice I had switched WEB sites when I used the link from AVSIM to jump here.

Please forgive my STUPIDITY!!

SORRY!

I agree with that idea, mainly because I created a post and I want to check the status of it.

That's because that link is the non member's area

Try this & you will be fine http://www.simviation.com/members/fs2004scenery78.htm

If you need to - log in and go to site map & select FS2004 Scenery - Page 78
