I have been using my favourite Mozilla Firefox Browser for many years....

...up until now... Cry...!

For the past number of Months I have been plagued by the dreaded "msvcr80.dll" errors constantly shutting the Firefox Browser down whilst I am in the middle of something!.... Angry...!

The Web pages are littered with frustrated Firefox Users complaining about this annoying error affecting the Browser whilst it is attempting to open the Page... Shocked...!
I have reinstalled both old and new versions of Firefox, and still the error occurrs!

My standby; Opera, Safari, and Maxthon2 Browsers run just fine, with no problems, although they are very "slow"!... Undecided...!

I have just installed IE8 to replace my previous IE7, so most of the time I will be stuck with that from now on, until a permanent cure for the Firefox error appears... Roll Eyes...!

Deary me!.... Cry...!

Paul....Firing my Fox!.... Angry...!

Yep Maz...

Re-installed both older and newer versions of Firefox...
...still the same problem... Angry...!

At the moment I am just getting used to the layout of the latest version of Internet Explorer (V8)...no problems with that... Smiley...!

(Opera, Safari, and Maxthon2 are far too slow, but useful as  standby Browsers).

...it is possible that one of my official Firefox add-on programs may be causing my xxx.dll errors....at the moment I have switched all of them off...see what happens... Roll Eyes...!

Paul...IE 8 is OK at the moment... Kiss...!

I've been using Firefox for at least as long as you Paul. Up till now I've never had a single problem with it. I found several suggestions to fix your problem here. http://www.techsupportforum.com/alternative-computing/mozilla-firefox-browsers/2...
I daresay you've already tried them.

Disabled all my Add-ons, including the AVG security Add-on thingy... Wink...!

It was so annoying that I am using IE8 at the moment, which is trouble-free... Smiley...!

...a bit of an update whilst I remember....

I have Disabled my following Add-ons:

AVG Safe Search.
AVG Security Toolbar.
Java Quick Starter.
Noscript. (for Java).

I have left Enabled the following:

Adblock Plus.
British English Dictionary.
Google Toolbar for Firefox.

..and so far, all is well, and no more msvcr80.dll errors... Smiley...!

So, it looks as though certain Firefox "Add-ons" only, are causing the problem, which is why the problem doesn't occur in my other Browsers!

Paul....Sorted?.... Roll Eyes...!
