How come the textures closest to me are blurred and the ones that are farthest away are clear, isnt that backwards from normal?

...

Anyone know the answer to this?

Hi,

I think this has been covered before and quite recently, isn't it to do with the radius around you that the textures/mesh are drawn at full resolution for whatever settings you have?

I think it can be tweaked in a .cfg somewhere?

Anybody else remember this?

May the Mynd be with you.

Here is what I see in your pic.

The distant texture that seems clear, is your generic ground texture which loads in before the landclass files & textures, which are the ones that are appearing blurred in the foreground.

In reality, the textures closer to you are the ones that are nearer to what they should be, as opposed to the ones in the distance still needing more time.

It looks clearer in the distance, because it only loaded up one texture file that isn't that large, the foreground looks blurry because that's a lot of info loading in.

This usually happens after you Slew for large distances, or somehow 'outrun' the Graphics card in the game. Or by an under-performing GPU or lack of RAM.

It looks backwards, but it isn't.  Wink

well my system definatle can keep up, i get at least 30fps and i have all my settings on high and FS9 never uses more than 3 of my 8GB of ram so it shouldnt be under performing...

so then i guess my question is,
1. Is there any way to fix this to make it look more realistic
&
2. If you can remember that tweak ide love to hear it Smiley

Try these FS9.cfg tweaks:

- Load textures farther away to reduce blurries:

Find these lines in FS9.cfg and change them to read:
TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.000000
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=9.900000
TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4

-Load textures faster

Find and edit:
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=
I use 400. You can try a higher or lower setting to see what gives the best performance on your system. The default setting is very conservative so don't be afraid to try high values. You'll likely get stuttering if you set it too high.

Me too. That's one of the really nice things about SimV. Often when a question is answered, people that did not even ask learn. Thanks Shane.  Smiley

Please lock your frame rates at 20 and see if that helps.

Hum......... try locking progressively lower than 20 and see if at some point it improves.

What are all your machine specs?

OK... so much for the "machine is not keeping up" theory.

Weird.  We'll keep thinking.

just a question, but if you go to ALT+OPTIONS / SETTINGS / DISPLAY / WEATHER

what do you have your "sight distance" set to? I have mine set to 60mi even though I run everything on MAX and am able to do so.

other than that, perhaps you have one of your sceneries in you library in the wrong location.  like Landclass before Mesh, when i think it should be the other way around.
