Unstick problem (Read 1074 times)

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

Some time ago, I read a tip which detailed the parameter to 'tweak' in order to get an aircraft to unstick at roughly the correct speed.     Can anyone give me a reference?    I have one just now which doesn't look like it would ever unstick regardless of how much 'up' elevator and/or 'up' trim is applied.      They just don't build runways long enough!

I've never heard of that. Mine unsticks fine as long as I've done the calculations correctly.

did you tell the FAT@$$ back in 23B to get off the plane?? that might be the problem.

also, are you trying to take off with 100% fuel and an overload of luggage?

...and don't forget to manually trim the Aircraft correctly for take-off.....Take a peek at your Elevator Trim Wheel setting.... Wink.... Wink....!

My technique for quickly "unsticking" in my GA Piston Props, is to spin the Elevator Trim Wheel for a slight "nose-up" position, accelerate smoothly down the runway, and then apply one notch of Flap once up to speed...

This is often enough to catapult the Aircraft into the air, and climb all by itself, without any further assistance from me!... Smiley...!

(Just remember to cancel the Flap(s) once in the Cruise).

Excellent technique for short-field take-offs!... Kiss...!

Fozzer said it well when he said tell us about the plane you are having problems with.........however
I'm willing to bet money that you are fighting with an auto-pilot that won't let the airplane change elevation, so you are "stuck" at airport altitude, and no matter how much you pull on the stick, or trim on the trim, the auto-pilot says is holding your current altitude. So you need to ensure that the AP is off, then check that your trim is set to take-off (usually around 0,or +1) set flaps if required, then push forward on your throttle, wait for V2 and rotate......I bet that you will no longer be "stuck" on the runway.

Providing that I select a runway suitable for the type of Aircraft I am flying, I have no problems taking off, providing that the Auto-pilot is switched off, and the Aircraft correctly Trimmed and centre of gravity allowed for, for take off.
The majority of the Aircraft I fly are General Aviation Piston Props, (the sort you learned you lessons on!), and having spent many years knowing how to fly them correctly, I now have no problems taking off and landing under most conditions.... Smiley...!

All the years of training (10+) in the Cessna 152/172/Beech Baron 58, etc, paid off well...Wink...trust me!....!

Thanks to all who responded to my original question - to which, incidentally, I still haven't had an answer.      After 30+ years as a practising pilot, 8000+ hours, and 180+ types flown, I do know how to unstick an aircraft.     Even on FS, I have about 20+ years experience.    That stlll hasn't helped me to find the tip I was looking for.

Give us a link to this particular troublesome Aircraft, so that we can try it for ourselves, and confirm if it [i]really[/i] is a problem!

I can remember, some time ago, I downloaded an Aircraft, which no matter what I did correctly to make it take off from the ground, it just would not, ploughing through all the buildings and vegetation in front of me.... Cry.....

...guess what I did to cure the problem...Wink... Wink....

I deleted the Folder, found a similar Aircraft that worked, and got on with the rest of my life!.... Grin...!
