Well almost. I looked out of the window this morning & it was all white. After a nice breakfast I toddled up on our local hill with the camera. Only a few inches but enough for the schools to be closed. (Not like it was in my day.
) It's not often we get snow in this part of the world so I thought I'd post a few photos.
That's Highdown Hill in the distance.
Lots of kids of all ages having fun.
Looking north over the village of Patching with the Downs in the distance.
Looking north-east towards Cissbury Ring.
More snow is forecast for tomorrow.

Fantastic shots as always Doug. Looks lovely with a scattering of snow. (Wish there'd been some on Dartmoor yesterday).

It's so nice to have a fresh blanket of white snow, for a while anyway. Nice photos Doug!
By the by, our sleds often have motors on them.
Flying with twins is a lot of fun..

I feel sorry for the kids sledding on such a small, shallow hill. Sledding in the mountains is much more fun...
But school closed with just a few inches of snow? Haha....
We get over six inches and the school district laughs....

The nearest mountains are over 100 miles away so you have to make do with what you've got.

Back in bonnie Scotland, in the late forties, we had a really nice sledding hill with one small drawback. At the bottom, running perpendicular to the downhill was what we called a burn - think wet. A lot of us suffered insufficient rudder and retired with dampened spirits.

Apart from the clean fresh look, I love the way all sounds are deadened by the white blanket.........Thanks for the look here Doug. It's quite different from the spring/summer/fall scenes you've shown us in the past..........
