Screenart Tips? (Read 418 times)

I was just thinking that it may be beneficial to roll out a series of screenshot tips/tools/etc in order to help our new members (and anyone lurking) to be more competitive in the various competitions.
It seems like the Studio has a habit of devolving into simply a place to store competitions, when I believe it's original purpose was for screenshot guidance and instruction.
Having a number of contests is great, but in my opinion, a series on tips/tools, and the like would be a good idea.
If there is no desire to create new threads in this style, maybe an awareness campaign pointing to the tips and tools mentioned in past threads....

Just wondering.............  Wink

I agree Sean....we do have a good handful of new talent here at SimV....one tip for our new screenshot artists is when you go to take your shot pause the sim, then you can crank up the settings or refresh(i have mine with ctrl+F12). also make sure that there is no menu bar or red text. I cant wait to see what the artist can bring to the table Cool

i personaly think theres a fine line between a cracking "screenshot" and "screenart" i think that latter would fit into edited like composites or where you enhance the image and produce something amazing.

Screenshots can do the same just are "harder" for me at least.

But think thats a very good idea. With some of the talent here with Payware, Freeware and even Edited there are bound to be some good tips around somewhere...i know i have a few that i use Tongue

but yes good idea  Grin Grin

It is a great idea, and one that should be embraced.

Unfortunately, it requires that members such as yourselves,  invest the time & effort into creating these posts, just like in the beginning of the StudioV.

The practice was discontinued due to either lack of positive responses (even today, some will stop posting if no one ever responds to their posts  Embarrassed ), or the fact that they ran out of good ideas, there are only so many tips & tricks to screen shots, and most are covered in the tutorial library, most  members just don't ever bother to look at them.  Wink

The StudioV is an entirely "member driven" section of the forums.  It has been clearly stated in the past, that if we don't keep it up, it will go away.
That was my main reason for choosing to take the Moderator job when I did, Krigl was ready to give it up, and no one else wanted the StudioV job.   If I had not taken it up, Pete was going to do away with it. Without members contributing, the StudioV is just a place where we have contests.

If anyone has any tips, or tricks, feel free to post them.
It is after all, your StudioV. Smiley
