I have a bunch of airport scenery zips that I have downloaded that I like very much.  I also have downloaded a ton of AFCAD files that I need to make my World of AI aircraft go to the right gates.

I am kind of confused about a few things.  Does the airport scenery utilize an AFCAD file underneath the buildings?  Some scenery notes state that it is for the default scenery, so in that case, would I install an AFCAD file for real airlines underneath the add-on airport scenery?  I got a feeling this would screw things up.

How can you tell if the airport scenery has an correct airline gate assignments AFCAD included before you install it?

If I install an AFCAD does it conflict with add-on airport scenery?

Please help.

Most scenery designers will include an AFCAD so the parked aircraft fit their scenery. Some might need tweeking a bit, but you should pretty much have all you need.

The only way to tell if the parking is correct is to have a map of that airport with parking assignments.

Any decent designer will already have that worked out for you.

If you install an AFCAD file into a scenery that already has one, the one with the higher priority in the scenery library will be the one the sim uses.

You can download 'ScanAFD' which will find duplicates and allow you to delete as you see fit.

Oh ok, one takes priority over the other.  I thought maybe they would both show up and conflict.

I just figured out too, that MIAW includes airline assignments with their AFCADs which is really great.  That was one of my main concerns, and saves me a lot of work.

I wondered if I mixed one person's AFCAD with another person's scenery that the buildings wouldn't line up properly.

I'll look for 'ScanAFD'.  Thanks Kev.

That is a possibility.  one designer might have the buildings spaced out with 40 feet between the buildings, and another might have 200 feet between "their" buildings.  (which buildings are you going to see and where?? no one knows until you install the 2 files together.)

its like playing roulette if you try to use MEGA SCENERY and an AFCAD by someone else.   (is that runway going to interfere with the buildings? is there going to be a building on my runway?) only way to know is try it.
