Not sure if this will make any difference, but it's worth trying.

Move your GaugeSound.dll out of the Modules folder, and into your main FS9 directory.

Then delete the FS9.cfg entry for it under your [OldModules]
section.

Here is what my Modules folder, FS9 directory, and FS9.cfg [OldModules] sections look like:

...

...

...

I've never had any kind of errors running this, and the setup is the same in my Silver Wings, Golden Wings, Vanilla, and main installs of FS9.

Running XPpro SP3.

I'm also emailing you a copy of FSSound.dll version 1.6.0.15
Which I think is the newest version. Just in case that's what is causing your problem. Wink

That fact that yours & Opa's are identical, yet you get the error, and that mine is nothing like either of yours, and I get no errors, more or less proves the
"Mysteries of life"
theory.  Wink

It's possible you have an early version of FSSound.dll. You can check the version from Right-click/Properties. Mine is Version 1.5.0.1

Yup, 1.4.0.0. I was going to search for a newer version but Shane said he was sending me one.  Smiley

May have to file this one under the "
Great Mysteries of Life
" category.

These old eyes do not see anything wrong with your FS9.cfg entries.

The only other thing I can suggest is to let XP do a search to be absolutely sure you do not have a second copy of GaugeSound.dll (and/or the others) anywhere else in the sim.

I will do that. And thanks for all the help Opa. I really appreciate it.  Smiley

Thanks Shane. I think the version may be the problem. I'll let you know as soon as I have a chance to check my mail and update it. As to GaugeSound.dll, that is the only one I am not getting an error message for, just the FSSound.dll and SOARRec.dll. I'm going to check the version of that one also. But I will move GaugeSound.dll to the FS9 folder. (What in the heck was wrong with using 'directory' and why did MS think they had to change it to 'folder'?)  Roll Eyes

TA DA! Updated FSSound.dll with the newer version Shane sent me. No more FSSound.dll error message. Now if I could just find a newer version of SOARRec.dll.
Thanks Shane. Thanks everyone for the help.  Smiley

Where's that 'Happy Camper' smiley when you need it?  Grin

Huh

GaugeSound.dll should be in the FS9 root directory, not FS9\Modules. It appears to work fine for me without the fs9.cfg [OldModules] entry.

Same as yours, but it's no longer in FS9. I just took it out and I can't tell any difference in the two gliders I've checked. But then it was not working anyway, so there probably is no difference. I have no idea what isn't/wasn't working with the gliders. The gauges I use all work fine and the glider funtions properly. I don't know what it was for. At least I no longer have error messages.  Smiley

Note that mine is a much later version. I've never had a problem with it. I recently downloaded some gliders to check out the automatic winch launch gauge. It's possible mine came from this site. http://www.ukvga.org.uk/aircraft.php
