One day in psychology class, a student ask the professor "What's the difference between frustration and exasperation?"

The professor thinks a moment, then pulls out his cellphone and says "Let me show you."

The professor dials a random number and asks "Is Mike there?"

The called party responds with "There's no Mike here, you have the wrong number" then hangs up.

Hitting redial, the professor once again asks "Is Mike there?"

The called party says "Listen pal!  I told you there's no Mike here!" then hangs up.

Once again redialing, the professor once again asks for 'Mike'....

The called party unleashes a profanity laced tirade insulting everything from the professor's intelligence to his heredity, and promises violence if he calls again.

The professor looks at the class and says that is a prime example of frustration.

The same student then asks "What about exasperation?"

The professor hits redial on his cellphone.....

When the call is answered he says "Hey, this is Mike, has anyone called for me?"  Then hangs up.

And that, the professor says, is exasperation!
