G'day,
First off, yes I know it takes a long time to perfect formation flying.
What I propose is a panel/tool which allows the player to select an aircraft in real time, being AI or multiplayer controlled. Following this, the panel will "lock on" to the selected aircraft and control the player's aircraft and speed (essentially autopilot) in order to maintain formation. If the selected aircraft banks, climbs/decends or increases/decreases speed, the panel will also replicate this change on the player's aircraft, thus keeping formation. This would make flying F/A-18s and similar aircraft much more enjoyable because the sheer power and manuverability of these aircrafts make decent formation flying impossible except for the very best simmers.
I do not know how difficult or even possible this would be, but it would certainly help players and create a more enjoyable experience otherwise reserved for the more experienced simmers.
Cheers!
Cheers,
Sifor

Hi and welcome to SimV! well, first of all, formation flying is harder on flight simulators than in real life - the main reason is tracking. well, I dont know about any program like you suggested, and doubt if it can be made. I could be wrong. The best way to simulate formations, I think, to first of all get FSRecorder, and record your flight with FSRecorder. the second part is the tricky one: then also get the FSRecorder editor, convert your recorded files into .txt files, copy the flight data, and add offsets, ect. then convert back to FSRecorder format, and play the file in Flight Simulator
If you want to know more or have troubles, dont be afraid to ask!
enjoy!

Thanks for the quick replies.
