There are seven new transports ships available for download at Fox Four's CG's Shipyard:

When I linked...was really fired up when I saw the Intrepid.

There are no issues....and she's been around the block more than once. I've got a couple of thousand jet and prop traps on her over the past few years. Wink

Sorry to bugger up the thread with my issues Wink

but the Intrepid must have been Made in Japan cause she does everything she can to kill me.
As you know the stock carrier is really forgiving. If you're able to land on the flight deck and stay on it...no matter how badly damaged, the A/C doesn't explode like on an airstrip. Not so the Intrepid...the HC in the other screenie skidded to a stop, sunk as in H2O, and blew. Huh

Another thing...no matter how good my approach, I always get a wave off...and "aim for the cables next time". I haven't been able to snag a cable yet. Cheesy

Just to prove to you that I don't need to go to Issues Anonymous. 1st screenie below shows where the HC sank and is starting to blow...the dust cloud is chunk of debris going on down the deck...not sure what. 2nd screenie shows the blast.

No oriental influence in the making of Intrepid, cept with the chinese take-away's eaten while she was under construction.

Perhaps you shouldn't have done those things with the LSO's wife?

No one has ever reported such problems with this Essex class...and she is in use be thousands of folks. This leads me to believe that your problem revolves around either a third-party aircraft, or a corrupted ship file.

Suggest you first try a stock aircraft with a know set of tailhook and damage bubble entries. If that doesn't eliminate the problem, then download another Essex (best use the Valley Forge 50) and try her out.

My bet is on the airplane you're using.

The problem is always so simple.....once you find it. Let us know how you fare, as we will get to the bottom of it. Wink

Meanwhile.....

If you are ready for a real challenge, try landing on the smaller British carrier and the ultimate macho challenge....putting your plane down on the CVE Sicily. When you can do that, you get the 'Good Stick' award. Grin

As an LSO and from the your previous screenies, I would say you are coming in too fast with too high a rate of descent AND with tail too high for the Hellcat's very short tailhook(see CFG file). Roll Eyes

F6F, I've tried to duplicate the problems you describe without any success. Landing is fine.....LSO is screwed, but what's new? Catching a wire is no problem. When you crash into the deck you are supposed to explode. When you hit hard your plane is supposed to break....unless you have STRESS=FALSE set in CFS2.cfg. And I cannot get my aircraft to sink into the deck. Don't know what else to tell you. Embarrassed

It's always good to hear I'm a minority of one in a group of thousands. Grin

The wildcat is stock...only difference...able to grab cables but blows shortly after the stop without sinking.

Well it's been fun and have had some spectacular blows...but as you suggest TR..time to move on to another ship. Thanks...

Aw shucks! Wish I could help, but the problem is in your install, not the Essex class. I can see that you are using a set of Enhanced Effects and with that all bets are off. I wanted to help, but troubleshooting a modified install remotely is very difficult. I hope you find the problem. Roll Eyes

OK..well here's the same HC just with a different paint and PTO install.
Got on the Essex without any problems.

Will try a new upload/install of the Intrepid and see what happens.

On a totally unrelated subject, have you tried loosening-up your LSO's behavior by making a few changes in his settings in the CFG file? Roll Eyes

Besides ending that business with his wife and even throwing in a case of booze, he's still po'd. Looked in the cfg file... what's he listed as?

Not all carriers have LSO entries. The one above dictates his position on the flight deck. I'll dig out the tute on the other entries for you. It's around here somewhere. You can control him somewhat, but the main thing to remember is that if he says you're OK, you are.....but his waveoffs don't really mean you can't land.

I can't find that note anywhere. Sad

However, if I remember correctly, the entry in the post above can be added to the bottom of the Ship.CFG file. And by defining the position of the LSO on the deck as a realistic one, you can improve his attitude, The position numbers work the same as those in the CFG file that define takeoff position on the deck.

Personally, I just ignore him.

If anyone remembers more about this mod, chime in please. Wink

Thanks to Collin for jogging my memory on this. Though I have failed to locate the tute on this, here are the areas where adjustments in the LSO's 'attitude' can be made:

In the Ship.CFG file of the carrier, you add this entry and experiment with changing the number from 1 down to .1:

In the Aircraft.CFG file of your plane these entries can be varied to modify his behavior:
