I just wondered, what laws are passengers and pilots under when they fly through international airspace? Is it the country which the airline is registered in?

I took BA up on the 'no minimum drinking age' on my travels to and from LA.
But I agree, I would like to know these laws too. I think there aren't many as it is classed as international waters. If you are flying over land, I think it may be classed as the laws of that area, or if you are flying over an area such as Europe then it counts as the laws of the EU or something like that.
I don't really know, I am just guessing away here

From the moment the aircraft's wheels leave the ground to the moment they touch down, you are under the laws of the country of origin of the carrier. The second they touch down you are under the laws of that country. This also the reason that babies born in flight get the nationality of the carrier..............All this with with one proviso, if a fighter appears of your wing and
requests
that you do what you are told, then it is better to live another day than argue international aviation law at 30,000 feet with a sidewinder locked onto your jet pipe
