I always think of IL-2s, and A-10s as the tanks of the air. Now the Stearman can join too  Grin

The noteworthy part of the pics of it for me was how well the support(s) between the fuselage and the upper wing held up.

For as long as I can recall, Mr. Stix has always orbitted for a spell over the annual drag boat races that have been held on a lake near the airport he calls home.  Next year we'll have to guess if a 'circler' is him or not.

What about the Mil Mi-24 "Hind" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mil_Mi-24) ?

EDIT: Also, the UH-60 Blackhawk and the AH-64 Apache
