Simviation Airshow 2009 (Read 7215 times)

Multiplayer aficionados,

I am thinking about trying to organize a new SimV Airshow for either the upcoming week (Thanksgiving in the US) or around Christmas/New Year.

Besides settling on a date and time, we would need to:

-set a nice location preferably with nice addon scenery that works in both FS2004 and X.
-get a list of performers
-get a list of non-performing spectators
-an idea for a "spectator aircraft"
-a list performing addon aircraft that work fine in both sims, even if an easy mod is needed.
-cameraman/screenshot person
-possibly an announcer on Teamspeak
-Rules and regulations for the airshow event

If people are interested in either participating or spectating, post here with your intentions and any preferences that you have (date, time, plane, etc.)

UPDATE:
Time: 3:30 PM US Eastern
Date: (Not confirmed) Either Dec 27, or Dec 29 2009
Location: Edwards AFB, United States

Spectator Aircraft: "Paper Airplane" model

Airshow Participants: Will be posted soon. Check current thread pages for latest news.

I would be interested in taking part in this airshow, ensuring the dates are right.

I am an FSX pilot. Earlier I was doing some airshow style runs in the default Extra 300 but with the blue 'Blades' design.

The deckchair was a great spectator 'aircraft'. Maybe someone could make something similar for the next one?

I am usually free on weekends, any decent GMT times.

I would be able to perform in a helicopter. I'll think about which one it will be.  Smiley

It might be a good idea to post a link to the download for the aircraft you are going to be flying.

For example:
"I'm going to be flying the Boeing P8A Poseidon."
http://www.simviation.com/simviation/?type=item&ID=86&page=10
(I'm not really going to be flying that though.)

Sounds cool. May I suggest that say 5 suggestions being made for a date. That date can be voted for then (not a poll, you get asses that vote on a poll for fun) After the date has been established, the time can be established the same way?

As, in the past, it is essential that the Organiser of the Show decides, and sticks rigidly, to the time and place of the Show to prevent endless, never-ending, discussions/arguments over alternative Times and Places, and rearrangements of the schedule!

...otherwise it becomes a disaster!... Wink...!

Pick a Time and a Place...and stick to it!... Wink...!

The RULES are simple... Smiley...!

Paul....G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav...and a low polygon, spectator, Paper Aeroplane.... Cool....!

OK, I'll just toss these random dates out. All time would either be at 2pm US Eastern or 4pm.

Possible dates:
Friday, Nov 27
Saturday, Nov 28
Sunday, Dec 27
Monday, Dec 28
Tuesday, Dec 29

If planning on attending and performing, please post a link to your aircraft (remember that it must work in both sims), along with any repaints that you will use. We'll settle on a spectator aircraft shortly.

Note to FSX users, you'll probably have to operate during the show with bloom turned off.

Possible locations are still up for grabs.

Do we want it to be at a small airport or a large international airport?

I would suggest somewhere like Edwards.

Nice & open, and it lines up well for both sims online.

Also check this out, Jake has done a very solid job of this before, and it would make a nice template for this.

And following this thread needs to be a non-optional requirement, or this could fall apart fast.

Sunday, Dec 27
Monday, Dec 28
Tuesday, Dec 29

I should be free for any of those dates. 2pm eastern is about 7pm GMT, I think. This should be fine. Especially on a weekend, I will be free then.

My aircraft:
Default Extra 300
Paintjob: The Barclays Blue design. 2008 Livery pack

I am unsure if this runs on FS9, however. I do not currently have a way of testing.

Can I just ask, wouldn't a spectator need a plane to watch? And what do the performers do?
I've never been on multiplayer before sorry  Grin

The low Polygon Paper Aeroplane for sitting on the Taxiway for the Spectators to watch the Display....and your name appears above it...
...it does not hog the Bandwidth...or make a noise!

Paper Aeroplane...>>>

http://www.simviation.com/fs2004misc5.htm

Any one not immediately appearing in the Display is encouraged to change to the Paper Aeroplane when on the ground.

Paul....G-BPLF...FS 2004... Cool...!
