If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Looked down at that ramp for several years - saw lots of Speedbirds but don't recall a single ME109
.

How many BA 737's did you see?
Nary a one
. This was back in the bad old days when the Russians were being standoffish with their airspace so all Polar flights from Europe refuelled in Anchorage.
