Well after my short break from technology, I have returned. I did get a new (used) car, and that has been keeping me busy for awhile.

The car is a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor otherwise know as the CVPI or P71, it used to serve as car #21 for the Cornelius Police Department in North Carolina. I must be honest, I've completely fallen in love with this car. There are better looking cars out there, and plenty of more powerful cars (4.6L V8 w/ K&N intake - 250 HP top speed is around 150 MPH), but nothing I have ever driven feels like the Crown Victoria. Sure its is longer than an aircraft carrier, and it weights slightly more than the state of Rhode Island, but when you drive it, you think it half its size and weight. Its got room for 5 people with plenty of space and the trunk is larger than most apartments. Technically the car is nothing special, but if you judge it one the way it makes you feel to drive then it gets top marks from me.

Because it is an ex-police car its got some holes from where the lightbar and antennas used to be but I've ordered 'fake' antennas that will seal the holes instead of the plastic plugs the police department put on there. One last thing is everyone gets out of my way on the highway, and people suddenly remember how to drive around me, which is nice. Grin

I was very lucky to participate in a "ride along program" in 1995 in Alaska. I went out on patrol with the Alaskan State Troopers. They had these cars. I was treated to a show of how fast that car is during a blue light trip to another officer who required assistance. It was an action packed night shift covering Saturday night to Sunday morning. Still gives me a buzz to think about it.

You've got yourself a nice automobile there. In addition to the extra ponies.. it's got a beefy transmission.. serious suspension set-up.. and most importantly,, it's real wheel drive.  Cool

Its a huge car! It completely dwarfs the Chevy's, Honda's, Toyota's, and Jeep's in my schools parking lot.

It does but due to local law it must be disconnected. Embarrassed

I still think its a bad looking car though... Cool

Its the last traditionally built car being produced in America (front engined, rear-wheel drive, body-on-frame construction).

I have the Mercury counterpart of that car (minus the cool interceptor history  Wink)

And I can attest that the car is MASSIVE, but doesn't feel it till you try and park.  Wink  Comfortable, massive storage space (very useful for those of us in a dorm) however doesn't get any jealous looks from other drivers    Tongue

I work security where we drive the Chevy Impalas with the police package in them. 3.9L V6. They are a blast to drive although they are all tracked and we get pages on our phones whenever someone is speeding Sad. Can only imagine what the vic is like. Hopefully I will know soon enough.

either way they can be quite a bit more fun than my little Accent.

Bad boys, bad boys whatcha want
Whatcha gonna do when sherrif John Brown
come for you tell me whatcha gonna do.

Bad boys bad boys
Watcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do
when they come for you
Bad boys, bad boys
Watcha gonna do, watcha gonna do
when they come for you

When you were eight
And you had bad traits
You go to school and you learn the golden rule
So why are you acting like a bloody fool
If you get hot you must get cool

Bad boys, bad boys
Watcha gonna do whatcha gonna do
When they come for you (repeat)

You chuck it on this one
You chuck it on this one
You chuck it on mother and
You chuck it on you father
You chuck it on you brother and
You chuck it on you sister
You chuck it on that one and you chuck it on me

Nobody naw give you no break
Police naw give you no break
Soldier naw give you no break
Not even you idren naw give you no break

Why did you have to act so mean don't you know
You're a human being born of a mother with
The love of a father reflections come and reflections go
I know sometimes you want to let go
I know sometimes you want to let go
Grin
