Peter, in the 767  you may disable passenger cabin, this will improve FPS.

I think the cs 727 is, by design, more of a "lite" product.  The version I have which was 2.1, didn't have the important performance charts or accurate EPR modelling.  For instance you can't set climb thrust, because the epr falls off precipitously after takeoff and is always far below what you would you would set it at.  That is moot though, because the plane doesn't have an OAT guage.  The same issue affects the descent.  Unless you are applying a substantial amount of power (far above idle), your 280kt descent will produce a hell-dive around 8000fpm.  These things ruin the plane for my tastes, but if you are more into the interior visuals, the plane is second to none.  It is fun to land.
Since I haven't upgraded my 727 in a while, does anyone know if the aforementioned issues are addressed?  I hope they are because I love the old vintage planes!

Fsxer,

Like I said above, I had to build my own 2D cockpit so that meant a lot of flight testing.  I also made a flight from Bangor, Maine to Reykjavik.  I've never flow a B727 in R/L but I had zero problems with the flight model.  I did a power off desent into Iceland from 30K with no problems at all.

One man's opinion...

I think it is very possible that there were some FDE and documentation revisions in subsequent updates since the version I had (2.1) came out 6 months ago.  I uninstalled and never upgraded because the list of bug fixes never mentioned some of my concerns.  The closest I ever got to the cockpit of a 727 was talking about gladiators with the pilot at age 5, so my assesment of whether these planes fly like the real thing is based on the numbers in the performance charts, which some software developers provide (like Dreamfleet), and some don't.  When you say that you had no "problems", I look at it more from the standpoint of whether the plane flew by the numbers or not.  I'm going from the climb EPR and descent tables provided from the Dreamfleet product, since the cs didn't come with these.  Can you tell me what version you are using and if these tables have been provided?  Did you not notice a problem setting the climb thrust right after takeoff?  How did you know what the Max Climb EPR was, for a given temperature as you climbed, or what your expected fuel burn should be during economy cruise? I really want to know because I would love to have a "realistic" 727 in my hanger and would be very interested in re-installing the cs727 if the answer to those things is yes.  If not, that is fine too, there is no reason the poster couldn't enjoy this plane for its own merits.  All I'm saying is that I personally didn't like if for those reasons mentioned

If you want more than eye candy, try the Dreamfleet. It's miles above the CS, and it books out on the numbers accoording to my US Air manual using -15 engines.

A bit of a personal vignette that may be off the topic of this Captain Sim thread, but I have to say that the Dreamfleet 727 along with the RFP 742 were the two planes that provided me with so much feeling of "virtual accomplishment" that I went out and spent mucho dinero to get fully into the hobby, with yoke, rudders, throttles, corei7 and all.  Now I'm waiting for those two airplanes to be updated for FSX.

Fsxer,

The install file I have is CSP721_2200.exe and the PFD files are dated 6/4/09.   If you're asking does the B727 I have fly to Boeing specs.  Well... who knows.  I sure don't.   The model I have descends at any rate I want and at any reasonable speed.   It will T/O and climb at 4000 fpm up to 8000 feet and fuel flow is related to throttle setting.  As far as OAT... well at 30,000 feet it's COLD.    Beyond that I can't help you.  Best of luck in your quest for the ideal B727.
