Looks like it might be happening when you re-size the images. What software do you use to take/edit these shots?

I use FSScreen to take the shots, then I use GIMP to resize the images and save them into jpegs.

Edit: Any software recommendations?  (That are free, ideally)  Smiley

I'm not familiar with FSScreen. If it's possible my advice would be to set it up to save the shots at their original size in BMP format.* Then open the images in GIMP to resize & Save As in JPEG format. Like most graphics editors GIMP has a feature to adjust the compression of JPEG images when saving them. Check the "Show preview" box to display the approximate file size of the saved image. (I imagine you already know this but I mentioned it for anyone that doesn't.)

*The reason for this is that editing images in a compressed format like JPEG will reduce the quality even more each time you save them. If this is FSX try the onboard screen-grab feature. (V key). This will automatically save your shots in BMP format to your "My Pictures\Flight Simulator X Files" folder.

PS. The resize quality option you use (Interpolation in GIMP) will also affect the quality of the resized image. You might need to experiment but the slowest option usually gives the best results.

Ah, I don't know those. Only photoshop, which has a 'save for web' function. Works very well. What ever you use, there should be an option somewhere to save and change format without a loss of quality. As far as I know GIMP is the free alternative to photoshop and functions in much the same way. I would recomend taking the shots using the default 'print screen' method and then use gimp to edit/resize them.
