This is no doubt a self-inflicted problem.  All of a sudden FS9 opens very slowly, without the usual short loading window.  Reaching the opening 'create a flight' window it is super slow and, if you finally get to a flight - most of the time it hangs first, scenery is very jerky.  Checked all my drivers, ran dxdiag and tried to eliminate anything suspicious.  My setup is XP/Intel dualcore 2.8/8800GTS/650W.

When you get the error message that you are out of virtual memory, do a re-install. Worked for me when it happened to me. Just have a cold six-pack of your favorite adult beverage, a big bag of Doritos and a big bottle of salsa right there. It will help to get you through...

Grin I feel your pain. I have the same problem with loading, but then everything is fine. I just chalked it up to being down to less than 12 gigs of freespace and not enough processor/video card ram. I have cleaned house a little due to the free space disappearing rather quickly of late, but I don't think it was enough. Hope you find the solution.  Smiley

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Things seemed to go downhill after I got this wild hair and downloaded "cloud9 LAX".  It's a trial payware that I wanted to compare with Gottfried Razek's freeware.  Thought I had uninstalled it but have been finding leftover bits here and there.  FS9 loads up slowly and becomes very hesitant to change screens when setting up a flight.  Last time I got as far as flying, motion was jerky and scenery bland, worse than default.  Changed video drivers too so I may have multiple screwups  Smiley.  An obvious case of not leaving well enough alone.

if you updated your video driver, try rolling it back a version or 2. and see how that helps.

also, If i could recommend, download CCleaner and do a registry scan, as well as basic scan and remove all that it finds.   Then reboot and do a COMPLETE SYSTEM DEFRAG ----- ALL HDD's!!

after you have tried these, {i dont know if you have followed Nicks XP/FSX Tweeks}, but I would go through Nick's FSX/XP tweeks.

Disclaimer:: sorry nick, i do not have the O&O Defrager...... But I did follow nick's advice for the rest of it and I for one do notice my whole computer including FS9 running a lot faster.

Have done all that you suggested, even the O&O allnighter.  When I went backwards with the video driver it didn't change anything other than RivaTuner lost it.  Got a hunch I've corrupted the FS files with a download and all I need is a little outside inspiration  Smiley

dirt, get Revo Uninstaller. It's a freebie. It's far better than the default trasher in Windows. Revo gets everything. I uninstalled a bunch of airplanes out of FSX with the one inside Control Panel. Then I went back and used Revo. It got 703 more pieces of those deleted airplanes. I will never use the default uninstaller again...

Thanks.  Will be downloading that as soon as I finish my coffee  Smiley.
