I remember a friend of mine showed me a screen shot (...probably more along the lines of concept art now that I have the game...) years back, and it Has been on my Christmas list since.

Save your money though, not worth the $40 (€0.16, according to the most up to date currency converter) yet.

I personally love it.  It's totally worth the $40 for the PC version in my opinion with the mission editor and better control.  Not worth the $60 for the console version though...

...wheres the mission editor?

...and what "better" control? It's easier to aim on the PC than it is on the console, but the rest is just plain awful. Its more of a console arcade shooter than it is a PC military simulator. Still not worth it though...

It's in the OFP root folder, on Vista:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Codemasters\OF Dragon Rising\Mission Editor

I personally haven't had any problems with the control.  I much prefer FPS games on the PC, I get frustrated trying to aim with a controller.  Of course the controls aren't realistic at all, but I don't really know how you can make a FPS shooter control more realistic.

It's all about opinion and your settings/system.
I was really into ArmA and am trying to get a new system for ArmA2 so i am automatically wanting to get OFP2, but i'm getting it for X360 because it seems like more of a Realistic Concolse FPS than Realistic MilSim for PC.

I never played OFP2, but from what I''ve heard of it, I'll probably stay away from it...

Codemasters tried to get us all into thinking this would be a sequel to the original OFP, which was developed by Bohemia Interactive... Well, this game ISN'T a true sequel to OFP, because Bohemia did not develop it... actually, the only resemblance this game has to the original is the name.

Bohemia lost the rights to the name when they left Codemasters, but they retained all the intellectual property of their game... so the sequel to OFP had to have another name, and it was called Armed Assault.

So ArmA, (and ArmA 2) are the true sequels to OFP. What codemasters did was to shamelessly plug into the fan base BI had amassed with their OFP/ArmA series and released their game to get some of that action....

Of course, the ArmA fan base is not looking for yet another run-and-gun shooter... and this is what CM is offering them.... needless to say, OFP2 is having a hard time being accepted by the ArmA community...

The sad part is that if CM had just released their game under a different title, and not tried to sell it as a sequel to OFP, it might have been a lot more successful.

This is what happens when you have marketers making the decisions instead of game designers.

Cheers

Where did you hear that from? The M-16A2/4 is still going strong, the military doesn't have plans to replace them for at least another 10 years...

...the M-4 doesn't have the accuracy desired for average infantry engagements, and the full auto fire setting is much too much firepower for the average rifleman.

I'll let you slide on this one, the website is ambiguous...

...the M4 replaced (this was back in the 80's and early 90's) certain roles that were being filled by the M-16A2 after the military decommissioned everything that was .45.

The two rifles were conceived for different roles, and won't replace each other; although you'll see ratio shifts depending on the theater of combat.
