Hi, a few of the a/c I fly dont have the shift+(number) option of a gps, and I'm sure I saw a mod on here to put into the aircraft.cfg file that allows you to add one, was I thinking right and if so, how do I do it?

Thanks!

Paul

It's pretty easy to do with an edit to panel.cfg, not aircraft.cfg.

If you search the forums you can probably find some.

Otherwise we'd need to know which version of FS you're running and which aircraft panels you want to modify.

I always remove the GPS from aircraft panels, so I would imagine that installing them is just the opposite... Grin

This requires an edit of the panel.cfg which can be found in the panel folder in the aircraft folder. This file can be opened and edited with Notepad.

Make a copy of it before editing in case you need to revert back to it.

In that file we first need to look for something like this - Quote:
[Window Titles]
Window00=Main Panel
Window01=Radio Stack
Window02=GPS
Window03=Annunciator
Window04=Compass
Window05
=Mini Panel

This is from the default FS9 C172 which has the GPS, but what we really need to know is the last number which I highlighted in
red
.

Add another line below the last line like this - Quote:
[Window Titles]
Window00=Main Panel
Window01=Radio Stack
Window02=GPS
Window03=Annunciator
Window04=Compass
Window05=Mini Panel
Window06=gps

Now scroll down the file through the different [Windownn] sections until you find the last one.

Below it add - Quote:
[Window
nn
]   //change this to match the line number you added above
size_mm=456,378
window_size=0.5
position=8
BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0
VISIBLE=0
ident=GPS_PANEL

gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500,            0,0

Close the panel.cfg saving changes and you should now have a GPS in your plane.

Hope this helps,
Joe
