Can you see the motorcycle?
How about now?
The Honda crotch rocket rider was traveling at approximately
85 mph
. The VW driver was
talking on a cell phone
when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not seeing the motorcycle. The riders reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place. All three involved (two in the car and the bike rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Motorcycle Fair by the Police and Road Safety Department. Pass this on to car drivers or soon to be new drivers, or new motorcycle owners. Stay off the Cell phone in the car. Pay attention! A picture is worth a thousand words.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Ive just this minute paid my usual visit to Sainsbury's Superstore on my Motor-Bike. and lo and behold, approaching me in our narrow street full of cars parked on both sides, a young lady driving? her car rapidly towards me, with one hand on the steering wheel, and the other holding her bloody Mobile Phone to her ear, and chatting on it at the same time...and probably trying to change gear with her bloody knee!!!
I hate the sods...especially young Women in Cars!!
What can be done about it?...

Paul...arrived safely home again, by being aware of the hazards all around me, second by second!

Sadly not a lot. Too many people will never appreciate that it's dangerous to use a mobile phone while driving. It's already illegal in this country but it's pointless passing laws that can't be enforced. The only way is by education & photos like the ones patchz posted here might help.
It takes two to have a collision & motorcyclists must accept their share of responsibility. They're not all as innocent as they like to make out. The biker in the above accident is reported to have been doing 85 mph. I'm wondering what the speed limit was on that stretch of road. I've even seen a video of a biker texting with both hands while travelling at speed on the motorway.

Being hit by car once while waiting for a traffic light I'm very aware of the fact that most car drivers are blind, dumb and deaf. He hit me with approximatly 30-35 km/h which was fast enough to launch my bike across the crossroads with me laying on the tarmac in front of the car. The bloody bastard got out of the car still talking to the person he had on the phone when he hit me. The bike was damaged beyond repair and I got off with a sore back. I still thank Dainese for making excellent leathers and backprotectors...
I drive about 50.000 km a year (in my van) but refuse to answer the phone when it rings. Although I do have a handsfree carkit for it, it is still very distracting.
Crash(ed too many times)

Seems that the car driver is getting all the attention here (yes she was on the phone), but no mention that the bike was (depending on the country) either 25 MPH or 30MPH over the limit.

As I already pointed out. Glad you agree.
To be fair patchz highlighted it in his original post.

Sorry missed that in Patchz's message. Now if he indeed was travelling at far greater speed than the limit, he's also to blame for his own death and that of the two others. Unlike most motorcyclists who ride within their capabilities and are aware of the dangers, there are also many who think they are Carl Fogarty (my all time favourite) or Valentino Rossi. I lost a couple of good friends that way...
