Wondering who here plays one more musical instruments on a regular basis or competently, and what the instruments are. I don't play anything, but I'm guessing that we have a number of people here who do possess the ability.

Paul, I'm surprised at you (of all people) not using spaces between the instruments on your list. Makes it very difficult to read. Tongue Wink

Ah, I thought that was most unlike you.

I have two guitars (a Squier Strat & an Aria semi-acoustic) & a Yamaha keyboard. I much prefer the guitar & the keyboard never came naturally to me. Modern synthesizers can duplicate the sound of most instruments but it would take a very skilled musician to accurately capture a stringed instrument like a guitar or lute as the instruments are quite different.

Although my home is technically a bungalow it has extra rooms in the roof. I have a music studio upstairs but haven't touched anything in it for many years.

I love/adore playing all my instruments. I am surrounded by them, but they are only for my own amusement.
Everyone else, including my large family. would rather sit down watching the television whilst munching a Take-away... Sad...!

The old Knees-up in the Front Room with Mum playing the old Joanna/Piano are long gone now..unfortunately... Cry...!
My Mum used to play the Piano, and Dad accompanied her on his Mandolin...happy days... Smiley...!
The Piano has long since departed this Earth, but I've still got Dad's Mandolin and his Mandolin Banjo!

@ Brandon....they are all Make and Model numbers.. Grin...!
...I wouldn't mind Making it with a Model, at the moment!... Kiss... Wink... Grin...!

Paul....Music Galore! Grin

I had, notice "had", long ago:

> 1954 all gold Les Paul (w/ soapbar pickups).
> 1968 Les Paul "Black Beauty Custom".
> 1962 Gibson cherry red ES335.
> 1965 Fender Jaguar.
> 1965 Martin D-35S steel string acoustic.
> Two Robert Ruck classicals, years 1976 and 1980.
> Two Ovation nylon string electric acoustics, years unknown.
> Something like another 2 or 3 dozen guitars, electric, acoustic, and classical, at various times, good and not so good.

All gone with the wind.  Traded and sold off long ago.  Those 2 LP's were incredible, as were the two Rucks.

I now have a self-customized Jackson SLSMG, blue swirl, by far the best electric I've ever owned, and a Yamaha nylon string acoustic electric stereo, another incredible guitar, no longer in production.

Hey Fozzer, yeah, good one there.  Well, they all went bye-bye a long time ago before the value of stuff like this skyrocketed.   That gold Les Paul today would buy me a new car, and those Rucks are worth maybe $6-10k each.   Whereas getting rid of the less obvious stuff was OK (I only had a few guitars at one time), the high level guitars are another story, essentially, I got rid of them at times when they had fallen out of use, but of course, not realizing the value would go up.

The gold LP cost me the ES335 in trade plus $300.  I was at a friend's friend's house back in 1972, the guy was a guitar dealer, I asked him if he knew of any "old Les Pauls" for sale, and he pulled it out of his closet.  I couldn't believe my eyes.  I sold it in 1978 for $625.  Easy come, easy go I guess.

I had the gold and black LP's at the same time.  The black gave a great bluesy sound when played through my Fender Super Reverb, but the gold was far better tone wise.

The gold LP would not stay in tune when I first got it (It had a wrap-around bridge, not a tune-a-matic).  The black LP was always in sharp tune.  In desperation, I switched the tuning machines, not knowing what else to do.  It worked, from then on the gold was always in tune, and the black then had tuning problems.  Totally baffling.

I bought the black LP for $300 and sold it to a friend years later for $300 along with my Fender Super Reverb amp, also for $300.

The Rucks:  1976, bought for $650, sold it to the late UM Guitar Dept chairman (a great classical guitarist) for $850, the 1980, $1,000, was sold back to Bob Ruck for $2,200.

Hold on to good instruments when you got 'em.

Since a couple of months I own a Yamaha Apx500 acoustic guitar and a Fender Stratocaster Classic Player 60.

I'm getting along with chords now, playing on a regular basis, hoping to improve over time...

Must say the Les Pauls look and sound awesome and one day I'd love to own an LP. Though I'd have to get much better before being able to convince the misses... lol
