been on flight sim since 1995..however never did a paint. admitting i know nothing about it and will have to learn .what is the best user friendly program to purchase ...i am using fs9 exclusively. i would like to purchase a program this week but will not make a move until i hear from those of you who know what there doing.thank you for your time and responce...

The beauty of repainting... Is that you don't need to purchase any program Cheesy

DXTBMP is a freeware program that you need to transform your BMP files to DXT files (that's what FSX uses - I don't have FS2004 but as far as I know it should work with it).
Then, you need an image editing program.
I use photshop, but as far as I know Paint.net and Gimp should fit your needs, too.

If you're using .dds, Paint.NET can open them directly.
