FSUIPC can really give this old sim some nice skies without having to go to advanced weather and especially like the unpredictability factor.
I know an unregistered version can cause cloud flicker that can't be corrected....don't have flicker but do have geometric distortion more often then not in VC and SP view as the last screenie shows..
Guess I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if anyone knows if a registered version wud correct it?

I've had FSUIPC installed in all my CFS2 versions since the beginnng....and I do mean the beginning many years back. I have never had a registered copy, as the manual firmly states that I just don't need it. I simply let FSUIPC do it's thing. I can see the random weather effects it causes, and have never had any flicker or distortion such as you describe. I suspect that the cause of the distortion may be something other than FSUIPC......but I could easily be wrong.
What version of FSUIPC are you using in CFS2? 3.93 is what is needed, not the later versions.
Perhaps one of our resident experts can shed more light on this subject.

Yeah 3.93 is what I have.
Don't recall the distortion on my old system which had 1/2 the juice of wut I replaced it with a yr ago.
But didn't use FSUIPC much back then...anyway more pro then con.... I can live with it.
Must be something with FSUIPC though... or it on my system ...when it isn't running,,,no distortion.

Was your old system Vista or XP? Current system?
Have you tried tinkering with your display settings in CFS2? Your video card settings?

XP and XP...wut's vista?
Flew all over the Pacific this am b4 finding a distortion in the eastern PNG. Starting to believe a certain type of generated weather causes the prob. Been looking outside my system for a solution, but as you suggest it might be a simple as an internal sim setting.

Rather than 'distortions', these anomalies look more like polygon conflicts where two sets of scenery mesh (or in this case weather) are layering or competing on the same polygon. Is this a possibility on your system?
But I'd still check my internal CFS2 and video card settings.

You weren't flying over the Devil's Triangle, were you?
Although not using FSUIPC, I see a similar vector merge in CFS1 scenery (as
Tango_Romeo
states, the match-point of scenery poygons); generally, the color/shade variation is neglible, though.

Triangle or a CFS2 time warp leading me into a virtual reality abyss.
Reminds me back in '03-04' when I and just a few others wud experience a rare whiteout...the deck was visible but only a few yds up. The only way to clear was to exit the sim.
But as you guys suggest, this is probably an enigma with a fix.
Maybe it's the cloud package I put together...
