Week 2!

This week it's ApplePie's turn to chose a photograph, after he won with this excellent shot -

His photograph of choice is HERE

Remember, the aim is to mimic the photograph as closely as possible

without editing

. The winner is the person who is judged via a poll to have the most realistic screenshot. They then go on to choose the photograph for the next week's competition.

Rules

1. No editing of any kind.

2. Screenshot must fit SimV guidelines: dimensions, file size etc.

3. All screenshots must be posted in this thread as a link or 5k thumbnail - we don't want to break the thread.

4. One screenshot per person: once an entry is submitted, it may not be changed or replaced with a different one. This is to keep the confusion to a minimum, and to maintain forum integrity. Entries may be withdrawn from the contest, but no additional entries from that member will be accepted.

5. The shot can be an old one, but given it's being based on a photograph, the chances of anyone doing so are slim.

6. Freeware aircraft only please, payware scenery is permitted.

7. The competition closes at 8pm GMT on Saturday 3rd September

8. Please can the winner send the photo for the next week's competition to me by 8pm GMT on Monday 5th September.

Well if you really want to know, the photo was taken in Unterzeil, Germany EDNL.

MY SPECS= 5' 11" Slightly less than healthy male, 160 lbs., Brown eyes........Oh...you were wondering about my computers specs.....

I've noticed that this type of link on the forum is not always obvious. That might depend on your browser. It might be an idea to use upper case letters or point to them like this ---> HERE

Hyperlinks are traditionally blue & underlined. I wonder if that option is available for YaBB.

If you mean the Mustang photo it's posted on Anet. Copying it to upload here would be against their COPYRIGHT

Linking directly to it would be against forum rules.

Yeah I can't find an FSX texture for this particular aircraft.

It's a great looking photo, but I think it deserves the right paintjob else it just won't look right.

I concur there's a FS9 version of 'Old Crow' floating around the various sites but the paint scheme is the old one with polished metal fuselage.

It's funny, I must have painted almost 200 Mustangs, but not this one...
There is a repaint for this one for the freeware FS9 model by Warwick Carter by Jan Visser: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004acrp&DLID=95884
but I don't have FS9....and no time to make the paint.

So here are two quick attempts, both with the wrong aeroplane.
Here is a D model with another camouflaged 357th FG paintscheme, "Little Duckfoot", so only the noseart is different.

and here is "Old Crow", with whitewalls, but also with invasion stripes, and besides, it's a P-51 B-model..

No, it isn't the right paint job. I attempted to make my own version but it wasn't going too well... My first proper paint attempt in a while.

It was a good theme, but the resources for the best outcome weren't available I don't think.

Due to the very low entry numbers, I have decided to post links to the aircraft here. If you are struggling to find repaints etc., ApplePie has kindly told me where they can all be found:
