Messing around with Alacrity PC and managed to lose my FS9.exe file.  Please tell me there's an easy way to get it back.

Any FS9 file can be recovered by copying from the CD's.

Don't have mine handy but you'll find FS9.exe on cd#1, I believe in the Game folder.

Dave you are correct.

Sort of...

You can find the FS9.exe on disc#1, it will however be FS9.0 unless you (like me) have a set of discs released after the 9.1 update.

As I have never had to install the 9.1 update I am not certain, but I do believe the .exe was replaced in the update.

Hope this helps,
Joe

The fs9.exe with the 9.1 update is indeed different than the one without it... Do an update after you find it on the disc, just in case Wink

You can easily find out the version of fs9.exe by right-clicking on the icon & selecting Properties. Then click the Version tab.

I've never installed the FS9.1 update. Mine is Version 9.0.0.30612

My version is exactly the same.

Would an upgrade to v9.1 make the Flight Sim twice as enjoyable than it is at the moment?... Kiss...!

If so, what are the amazing enhancements incorporated into the upgrade?

Will it convert it into FSX, but be able to run at the super speed that we presently enjoy with our copy FS 2004?

Will all be revealed?

Paul..G-BPLF..and version 9.0.0.30612 of FS 2004... Cool...!

I bought FS9 a little later than most people here, because I was still hooked on FS2002. So when I got it, it was already 9.1 out of the box (9.1.0.40901).

I think the upgrade fixed some scenery anomalies (lack of bridges etc, bridges in the wrong places) and made some performance improvements. Can't say what as never had 9.0!

Wink

The big thing that the 9.1 patch did was to fix a major memory leak in the autogen.  If you had the 9.0 version and you flew circuits in the same area, eventually your sim would crash due to memory issues.

Prior to that, there was a "work around" posted that had you remove/disable some of the autogen (fast food joints if I remember correctly) and that fixed some of the memory problems.

As I remember, it did not affect one way flights so badly.

It also added a bunch of bridges that were missing or misplaced.

You can go back to the early threads in the fs2004 foruim section to see all the stuff that went on when it was released.  But I haven't done that in YEARS.  Too hard to find.  Interestingly when you DO look at the old stuff....... you see the "same" basic discussions that you find more recently in the FSX forum section  Wink.

best,

My version came with the 9.1 patch but I didn't find anything on Disk 1 that resembled FS9.exe so I downloaded a repair patch.  This put me back in business except now, when I click my desktop icon to start, I get the little 'run the file' window from the patch.  When I click 'run' it starts.  Much better than nothing  Smiley.

FS9.EXE should be where dave3cu said. In the GAME folder on FS2004 CD-1.

Another 2 cents here.

The 9.1 update also repaired a seasonal CTD if I remember correctly.

Joe
