Okay, I've been trying to figure out port stuff for about two days now. I found the port page in my router config and entered in the ports I want to allow.
But then I tried using FSPortTest.exe and this is what it gave me.
Thanks in advance.

How come the "Privete IP #" is different fro the Gukldwars game and all the fs2004 stuff?
While I don't know your specific router... and I am NOT any kind of networking guru...... I THINK that address is supposed to simply be your local machine's IP address onm the local network. Which means that it should be the same as the other one.... unless that port on Guildwars is being passed to a different machine on the router that has a different IP.
Also, have you opened the ports in your software firewalls in the flight sim computer?

Paul,
For some people, ditching the router is not an option for any number of reasons from not controlling the network (work or family wise) to financial to a lack of tech savy.
Your good fortune in this matter is great for you.

Duly noted, John...
..!
Some time ago I spent £15 on a special download; "Port Forwarding" program, which was supposed to automatically open the Ports for any program which I specified in a list of programs...
...and needless to say, it didn't work, and was £15 thrown down the drain!
Which is why I finally gave up on the "Router" idea after realising that I would always suffer problems during my Multiplayer activities.
Paul.
I have the choice of either connecting The Router/Modem..OR the USB ADSL Modem to my Computer, whichever is most useful for the application at the time...

I've ran that port test a dozen times and have always got the same results, yet you & I, and many others and I have flown online using both FS9 & FSX many times without problems.
I just make sure my windows firewall allows the requrired ports, and thats it. No problems yet, and I do use router.

Yep, Dave...
That was the program I tried (unsuccessfully)...>>>

Applepie, does your PC have a static IP address? Otherwise opening ports doesn't work very well.
http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm
Here's an example how to do that in XP.

I have always thought it would be nice to have a Toggle Switch on the Router, to select; (a) Modem/Router...(b) Modem only (to by-pass the Router with the ports!) ....
,,,!
...too simple?...

Crash,
GREAT POINT!!!! One I had forgotten. I have the network here which also runs my simpit set up with fixed IPs so that everything KEEPS working correctly.
If he connects and unconnects stuff like laptops from the network there...... that easily can result in a different IP number... and the old port forward will not apply to the new number.

So what's wrong with mine then?
I've had the same IP for ages, and I get the exact same screen he does.
My router says the ports are open, my windows firewall says they are open, and I fly with all of you online with no problems.
Is there an unlisted step I'm missing? Or another program I should be running while I'm running this test?

I get confused here, I am not running a network as my 3 PC's cannot communicate in any way. My router, and maybe yours also just acts as a splitter to allow up to 4 pc's to access internet? I don't know.
Flying with twins is a lot of fun..

If you followed
all
the steps in opening/forwarding your ports there should be nothing wrong. FSporttest doesn't work for me either, yet I'm sure I've got things set up the right way. It's the chocolatesoftware server that times out, not your pc....

Yet mine tests out fine at the Chocolate server???????
And supposedly his port tests are designed to test the specific FS program for compatibility to the FSHost server software.
So either the author of the sofware we use for MP does not know his own software...... or....... ????????

PS: I am beginning to think that the issue is ports / firewalls at the ISP end of the session.
