A little of both, I'd say.

At least he points out the hazards... although he'd have been wise to point out that frostbite is just like a burn- the damaged flesh is done, finito. Frostbitten fingers, toes, and noses are routinely amputated to prevent the dead flesh from poisoning the rest of the body as it decays.
If that happens inside your body you could have some very serious problems!
