Imagine what kind of power plant you'd need to get the time down to 2.0 ! Shocked Cool

Power is not the answer. Weight and traction is the secret weapon. The Ariel Atom is a good example with only a 2 litre engine and 245 BHP.

Matt

Very true, but my comment was more aimed at the Bugatti. In it's current form, how much more power would be required to get it down to 2 seconds flat?

OR...

Imagine what that quad turbo W16 could do in a car with half the weight! Shocked Cheesy (insert evil laugh here.)

I dont think it is possible as mercedes have found out time and time again. more power doesn't mean faster acceleration.
The veyron is likely at its optimum level as it is for power traction and performance. If you rip out the insides, your going to lose the weight on the rear needed for the traction to get it moving. If you put more power into it, your just going to have more wheelspin. The tyres are already specially designed to handle the power of the car.
Sub 2 seconds really is going to be restricted to the world of bikes and F1 cars i'm afraid.

Buggatti Veyron does 0-62 in 2.5 seconds. And that is also not a light vehicle.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti_Veyron

That is a con. 0 to 62 mph. Why 62 mph when the industry standard is 60 mph. Because if it was 60 mph you would not have a nice round 2.5 seconds and it would appear "slow".

Matt

Ah but thanks to the metric loving Europeans, 0-62 is becoming standard because they work on 0-100km/h Wink

"Metrication" helps me to dislike Europeans...intensely!... Smiley...!

yeah? well "metrication" keeps me from flying to london and beating up the europeans. ............ oh, wait. thats MEDication. my bad.

how many people here would love to see that Bugatti Veyron launched from the USS STEVE HINSON, or the USS JOHN GLENN ???? I bet it could get that 0-60/2.5 down to 0-60/.25
