Just to tell that I have just finished a rebuild with a AMD Phenom 955 and Asus board - and it really fly's and gives lovely results. The whole job  was no expensive with the chippy, board Asus M4A78T E, OS (Vista 64), Graphics card ATI 4850 and 4 meg 1600 ram Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600

Beats up my old system

yeah the chip is awesome. I did have it up to around 3.6 just by changing the multiplier. Then i decided to lower the multiplier and up the FSB on it. I started getting driver errors (some ATI error) i reverted to stock and all was good.

Be sure to get a good cooler though. the Phenom II doesn't like temps above 62C. Mine usually idles around 32C but can go as low as 28C with the "Cool and Quiet" thing enabled.
