Please do it one at a time & check it out in FSX before changing another one. Do [fltsim.7] first, then [fltsim.8] & so on.

Not sure where you got texture 10 from. The corresponding texture folder for [fltsim.7] should be named texture.BA
Make sure it's exactly right, no typos.

PS. The texture.BA folder should be in your main B747_400 folder.

ok in my 747 folder i have numbers going up to fltsim.9 so then next one would have been 10 which is what i changed it to. i then made the folder with the files for this and called it texture 10 as the others are named 1-9.

This is so confusing i am changing files left right and centre and hope i am not making a right hash!

Please slow down & do this one at a time as I suggested. Once you understand how it works you'll realise how easy it is.

Go back to the [fltsim.7] entry. It should look like this.

[fltsim.6]
title=Boeing 747-400
sim=Boeing747-400
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=Boeing747-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing747-400_ref

atc_heavy=1
atc_parking_types=CARGO
ui_manufacturer="Boeing"
ui_type="747-400"
ui_variation="White"
ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"
description="More than 30 years ago, the 747 made its first trip from New York to London.  Since then, it's become the standard by which other large passenger jets are judged. Its size, range, speed and capacity were then, and are now, the best in its class."

[fltsim.7]
title=Boeing 747-400 British Airways
sim=Boeing747-400
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=BA
kb_checklists=Boeing747-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing747-400_ref
atc_id=G-CIVE
atc_airline=British Airways
atc_flight_number=BA117
atc_heavy=1
ui_manufacturer="Boeing"
ui_type="747-400"
ui_variation=British Airways
ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"
description="More than 30 years ago, the 747 made its first trip from New York to London.  Since then, it's become the standard by which other large passenger jets are judged. Its size, range, speed and capacity were then, and are now, the best in its class."

The corresponding texture folder should be named texture.BA
Get the idea?

thanks again Hagar. right I think i know where the problem is.

In my 747 folder I have some other files that I have made and copied and the main folder for texture when u open it has
[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\texture
fallback.2=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\text

this is all that I have in each of the folders for each repaint in each sub folder i.e texture 1. the numbers then do not follow I have texture 1 2 5 8 and 9. the main folder has files and then copy files which i put in there too.

Waiting patiently whilst trying not to get too stressed for your kind replies!!

All the new texture folders should be in your main B747_400 folder alongside the default folders. The BA textures should be in a folder named texture.BA

This corresponds to the texture=BA line in your new [fltsim.7] entry.

Not sure we need to complicate matters by teaching you how to post screenshots.

It might be better to start again from scratch. Did you take a backup copy of the 747 Aircraft.cfg before attempting to edit it?  I would post a shot but unfortunately I haven't got FSX or Vista.

Perhaps you could try adding a new variation to one of the other default aircraft like the B737_800. Tell me which one & where to download it so I can walk you through it.

That looks OK to me providing you have the rest of the Aircraft.cfg entries below what you posted. It should now be listed on the FSX Aircraft selection menu. If you installed the BA textures correctly in a folder named texture.BA it should work.

PS. Delete the rogue [fltsim] entry.

You've probably overwritten the original Aircraft.cfg. Fortunately you backed it up in this thread. You can copy any missing entries from your previous posts.

Rule Number One. Always take a backup copy of any file you intend editing before editing it.
