As my mind raced back, this oldie sped to mind:

After getting all of Pope Benedict's luggage loaded into the limo, the driver notices the Pope is still standing on the curb.

"Excuse me, Your Holiness," requests the driver, "Would you please take your seat so we can leave?"

"Well, to tell you the truth," the Pope reveals, "they never let me drive at the Vatican when I was a cardinal, and I'd really like to drive today."

"I'm sorry, Your Holiness, but I cannot let you do that. I'd lose my job! What if something should happen?" protests the driver, wishing he'd never gone to work that morning..

"Who"s going to tell?" says the Pope with a smile.

Reluctantly, the driver gets in the back as the Pope climbs in behind the wheel. The driver quickly regrets his decision when, after exiting the airport, the Pontiff floors it, accelerating the limo to 205 kph..

"Please slow down, your Holiness!" pleads the worried driver, but the Pope keeps the pedal to the metal until they hear sirens.

"Oh, dear God, I'm going to lose my license -- and my job!" moans the driver.

The Pope pulls over and rolls down the window as the  officer approaches but, taking one look at him,   the officer goes back to his motorcycle and gets on the radio, "I need to talk to the Chief," he informs the dispatcher.

The Chief gets on the radio and the officer tells him that he's stopped a limo going 205 kph.

"So ticket him," orders the Chief.

"I don't think we want to do that -- he's really important," the officer informs.

The Chief exclaims, "All the more reason!"

"No, I mean really important," persists the officer.

The Chief then inquires, "Who do you have there, the mayor?"

"Bigger."

"A senator?" offers the Chief.

"Bigger."

"Heavens, exclaims the Chief, the Prime Minister?"

"Bigger."

"Well," said the Chief, "who is it?"

"I think it"s God!" exclaims the officer.

"God?" even more puzzled and curious, "What makes you think it"s God?"

"His chauffeur is the Pope!"

Still got that Holy Water recipe, Steve?

I heard one similar with Billy Graham as the chauffeur.... Wink

Quote:
Billy Graham was returning to Charlotte after a speaking engagement. When his plane arrived there was a limousine there to transport him to his home in Montreat.

As he prepared to get into the limo, he stopped and spoke to the driver.

"You know" he said, "I am 87 years old and I have never driven a limousine. Would you mind if I drove it for a while?"

The driver said, "No problem. Have at it." "Billy gets into the driver's seat and they head off down the highway.

A short distance away sat a rookie State Trooper operating his first speed trap.

The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone.

The trooper pulled out and easily caught the limo and got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure.

The young trooper walked up to the driver's door and when the glass was rolled down he was surprised to see who was driving.

He immediately excused himself and went back to his car and called his supervisor.

He told the supervisor, "I know we are supposed to enforce the law but I also know that important people are sometimes given certain courtesies.

I need to know what I should do because I have stopped a very important person."

"The supervisor asked, "Is it the governor?"

The young trooper said, "No, he's more important than that."

The supervisor said, "Oh, so it's the president."

The young trooper said, "Not, he's even more important than that."

The supervisor finally asked, "Well then, who is it?"

The young trooper said, "I think it's Jesus because he's got Billy Graham for a chauffeur !!!!!
