Left4Dead question... Online only? (Read 440 times)

I'm thinking about getting a zombie game such as L4D or Dead Rising for Xbox 360. I've heard lots of problematic things about Dead Rising in terms of messed up saves, annoying time limits or stuff like that. I've heard lots of great things about L4D but I'm not sure if it is an online-only game or if it is online. I've heard people talking about it being online, and my Xbox Live subscription has run out so I am limited to offline games for now.
Is it offline too?

It does appears to have a single-player(offline) mode.

The single player is kinda a training thing to get you ready for online, but On the PC you can download community maps, I not sure about on the XBOX360
