I know it's the quality and not the quantity that counts,
but is it possible to change the number of posts required for each level?
If so, I would save that top level for those few here that have passed the 10,000 post mark.

It is actually possible to remove the groups; it just leaves a weird space under the name...

It harder than it seems coming up these.
I'm still looking for a replacement for "Newbie". I might just put Junior Member in that spot.

Just get rid of the names. It's a meaningless thing. Same as the postcounts. And if you really want to keep the names why not make it an aviation theme kind of thing? Something like this:
Senior Captain - 5000
Captain - 2500
First Officer - 1250
Purser - 500
Luggage Handler - 0
It's just an idea.

I second that. maybe the counts are a bit too high? for some guys (like me) it will take years to reach any status. not that status matter really, but I can honestley say I take up any comments from senior members more seriously than a newbie.
I love this forum anyway, and want to thank all the guys making this forum possible! amazing work!!!

Not always the best tactic.
Some of the smartest, most knowledgeable contributors here, only have a handful of posts, while someone who may know nothing of MSFS, could have thousands of posts.
I support high count levels if the feature is kept. If you want those status levels, you'll stick around awhile.

I think the default ones were alright as they were. Though, it was easy enough for most people to reach the highest level without much effort. Some people have many thousands of posts and the maximum level is currently only a few hundred posts.
As Shane started going on about, some of the best advice comes from people with few but great posts rather than those with many posts and not so great a contribution... Which doesn't seem to be an issue on SimV so much.
But I don't think that posting should mean that you come up as a better looking person. It's not really about class. It shouldn't turn into a battle of the highest ranking poster. I like that being a regular just means that you are someone who posts often.

Im all for Crash's Idea but for the newbies who think they will never get past 500 posts it can go by faster than you think. I remember once I passed 100 I was like woah and now almost a year and a half and pretty much 3000 posts.

Technically, it is possible to have more stars. Although you still can't have too many member groups before the number of stars can become
a bit superfluous

So, it's still best to just stick with 5.

I like your idea Shane, however I think the gap of 499 for 'Baggage Handler' is a bit steep and may put some people off. Perhaps something lower would be better (?).
As to what a 'Commander' is, I don't know. It sounded good at the time.

Only to those concerned solely with their post count.
It's taken me just over a year to get to..., I can't even quote how many right now

that's when it REALLY starts to grow.

Good afternoon all...
My thoughts are:
Forget the rank and file structure, leave that to those who have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings for real.
The post count is neither here nor there too me, I do not see where it hurts leaving it in.
Perhaps below each name could be:
Premier Member
Member
Guest
Position Held on the forum such as "Moderator" etc.
And:
For those of us who have been through the Aviation School of Hard Knocks the following:
Aviator
Poor Starving Aviator
Wannabe Aviator
Happy Simulator Aviator
The above could be filled in by the member when joining Simviation and a point system would not be required.
I am not keen on seeing/hearing the term "GOD" being used to describe a Captain or anyone else.
Been there, done that and get the retirement cheque monthly so I think I am qualified in saying this.
"A Captain of a ship or aircraft is no more important than a cab driver or a bus driver. It is only the passenger count that changes, who ever is in command of the vehicle, vessel or aircraft is responsible for the crew and lives whether that be one life or more."
There is no need to put people up on pedestals, if you want to put someone on a pedestal let it be the folks who protect and secure our way of life, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. That includes all branches of the military, emergency measures folks, doctors, ambulance drivers, fire department and police department personnel and perhaps some I have forgotten.
I remember this quite well when as a young Pilot Officer at a Squadron Party I offered to buy a visiting Air Marshall (Air Force equivalent to Admiral or General) a drink. He looked at me and said "PO I put my pants on one leg at a time just like you, however I get paid much much more for doing it, let me buy you a drink". So I ordered a double.
I never realized how much that little meeting would guide me through my Aviation Career.
Well that is my thoughts folks.
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Just don't take away those stars. Other than a 'county mounty' or two, we're probably the only 'five stars' around. Be nice if they could be arranged in a circle just like Hap, Doug, Ike and a few others wore.

Much as I hate being demoted and losing a star, the designation "senior" member is almost embarassing, especially since having joined less than a year ago. Perhaps I do post more than average but the only thing truly "senior" about me is revealed when I roll out each morning and make my trip (one of a series) to the toilet.

For me, there was nothing wrong with the previous system. I have a problem with the Capt., baggage handler, etc. because it implies airline. Some of us lean more toward GA.
