Iris

The price is around the same, £25 ish. Not being an owner of either, I just wanted to see whether which product is better. The Aerosoft F-16 looks better exterior, but Iris F-16 looks like it has a better VC.
So what are your thoughts?

Aerosoft definitely has a much better looking VC than the IRIS one, but I only have the Aerosoft one so I'm only looking at the screenshots.  The Aerosoft one can be rather system intesive as well, but I really enjoy it.

Here's a few images of the VC I took a few months ago: http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1224819496

God I love the Aerosoft one ! On another PC : I bought it and even with all settings to none, I can't get above 20fps Sad
But if you have a high-end PC, I think both are fantastic, because if I'm not mistaking, you can drop things in the IRIS one..

According to Iris, their F-16 is very easy on frames, more so than their F-14.

True, the Iris F-16 is very smooth and is equally as much fun to fly as the Aerosoft version. However, the Aerosoft version is higher quality.

I have a medium level PC and I fly the Aerosoft... if I reduce water effects to 1x high and put a few other settings towards the center she flies very smooth, and she's a blast to fly, you can get her up to around 80,000 feet up with a good dive and pull back at full burner (prepare to run out of fuel and make sure you can do a stall recovery/glide to nearest airport) and if you just want to cruise it has plenty of knobs and switches to play with, some good sounds, nice exterior, and crisp handling.

I haven't flown the Iris so I can't judge it yet Smiley

If you want a complete review of the Aerosoft vs. IRIS F-16 I just posted one on my review and workflow website:

http://www.go-go-godzilla.com/fsx_f-16_fly-off.html

I've also included a comparison sound sample from both jets but right now those files aren't working in EI7 or 8 and will hopefully get fixed soon.

Cheers.

I have the IRIS F16, and I regret not having picked up Aerosoft's F16. Aerosoft might be a little intimidating with the many different systems, knobs and buttons but in the end seems more gratifying.
IRIS's F16 looked good, but I think now a little too shiny. Aerosoft's bird looks more weathered and realistic. IRIS' jet is too simple. I guess it's good for people that want to fly right out of the box, but I got bored with it so quickly... Definitely not my best buy  Cry

Actually you're overview of the IRIS is completely wrong; the IRIS has much more realistic systems replication than the Aerosoft does.  In fact, only about half of the "buttons and switches" in the Aerosoft version even work, whereas the IRIS has nearly 95% of all systems working.

It would take you several hours if not an entire day to pour through how to properly use all the systems in the IRIS, the Aerosoft maybe about 20 minutes.

Read my full review posted above and you'll see for yourself.

Both the IRIS and the Aerosoft are good models but they both have strengths and weaknesses - systems, is not a weakness in the IRIS.
