Everyone who uses Simviation and these forums will have noticed some problems lately.
Despite contracting 2 server admin experts an exact cause has yet to be found. It does not help that by co-incidence, our hosting company has been having a hardware issue with switching into our main server.
It is generally thought that it is the forums that are causing the troubles.
So what I am going to do now is upgrade the Yabb forums but on a different server. This involves installing the new forums on that machine and then copying all forum files over. This may take some time due to the size of the forums.
The Yabb forums will be closed for some time today while this work is in progress. The last time I attempted an forums upgrade last week the server crashed so let's hope that does not happen this time. The fact that the upgrade will be on a different machine will be a lot easier.
This way it is hoped, the forums will not hog the server CPU when people do things like forum searches -
Fingers crossed.
Think Global. It's the world we live in.
