i am not quite sure if this is the area this should be in being that i am having a problem with IE8 (Internet Explorer 8).  I dont know if this should be in Software, but it might have something to do with my VIDEO CHIPSET / Vid card.

in the pic below, i logged into my yahell! mail account, and i get this weird error message saying my Screen Resolution is set too low. So i did what it tells me to do to fix it, and it IS set correctly.  so i tell it OK, and restart my IE8.  no change. always get the error message.

also, some of the buttons on here, SIMV, are a little blurry too, like the Reply etc etc etc for each topic thread.  (you might not be able to tell in the pic, but they are)

I have done what Yahell! suggests me to do, i have turned off the computer for 15 min, unplugged from the wall (laptop) with the battery removed so that the mobo (motherboard) can degauss.  Checked SAFEMODE after restart, to check the vidchip settings -- NORMAL / FINE.  but some pages say that my vid settings are not correct.   any ideas????

also, the smilies just below this (post) box are a little swollen and blurry too.  am i missing something in one of my settings that i should check???

looking under Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information >> Software Environment > Windows Error Reporting ..... the very last entry i see is this::

8/7/2009 3:26 PM      Application Error      Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 8.0.6001.18702, faulting module flash10b.ocx, version 10.0.22.87, fault address 0x002d5072.

Could this be any cause of why IE8 is displaying incorrectly???

nope

i reinstalled windows about 4 months ago, cause IE8 messed up in download and i had already uninstalled IE7 so i had no way to get back on the net to redownload IE8, and in turn it messed up my WinXP. ... but up until YESTERDAY, everything was completely 100% ok.

I do have IE6 on a disk that I can install temporarily in order to uninstall IE8 and then just upgrade back to it to see if it truely is IE8 that is messed up though.

There are only certain webpages that look fuzzy or not as crisp as they use to be. I have no idea what is wrong.

I have not made any changes to display properties as they are, and always have been set correctly... and i have not YET made any changes to IE8 (then again, IE does have really have "display options"... it gets info from your vidcard / chipset and configures itself that way.

any other ideas??

ok guys, i just got off the phone with Microsoft Customer Support for Internet Explorer 8.

ultimately, they helped me reset IE8 back to a brand new install WITHOUT addons running.

this fixed the problem.  -- everything is back to normal now.   Thanks for at least trying to help A1.

Too late but it looks like there was a problem with the Flash player for IE8.

For future reference (if you didn't know) if you have problems with IE try clicking:

Tools > Manage Addons

From there you can see Addons that run without permission, current running addons and all, you can disable any you want to test if the problems go away!

Or alternatively use Firefox  Tongue  Grin
