I was skeptical about the one click repair thing.

Does it run many background apps that take up speed? Seems like all software has background running apps nowadays.

Registry Mechanic.

Been using it for yonks!... Wink...!

Excellent program. Sorts out all sorts of problems that you are not normally aware of: Various Registry errors....and LOTS of Temp files, and Shortcuts, etc.... Shocked...!

I run it a couple of times a day to keep "things" running smoothly!... Kiss...!

Paul.... Smiley...!

P.S. It doesn't run all the time. You click on the Icon..it does its repair job, (it takes seconds), then you close it down, 'till next time..Wink...!

Yes do you have to buy it every year? I would hate to do that.

You buy it, together with the registration key, and its yours for keeps... Kiss...!

Paul.

You are thinking of Norton System Works Anti-Virus. ...Annual subscription.

Not necessarily. Norton is not the only software to require an annual subscription. ---> http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6132_102-0.html?threadID=281898

There is a yearly subscription for Registry Mechanic.

My subscription lapst last year because I had used an old graduate school email account. It started to get spammed so I may have overlooked the email asking me if I wanted to renew back in September.

Had a problem with the PC in February this year and ended up using the recovery disk. I had to reload Registry Mechanic and that's when I realized I had lost the copy of the email registration showing the original licence code and expiration date that I had under My Documents.

A phone call to PC Tools fixed the problem with renewing my subscription and I ended up getting the next version of RM (Version 7). I want to point out that if you ever need the registration information, there is a link on PC Tools website that allows you to retrieve it through email providing you have a current email address with them.

Then of course the HDD was dying recently and I accessed the website at the library and this time printed out a copy of the license code information once I got everything up and running. When I downloaded RM this time I got Version 8.

...I just make sure that I never go anywhere near the "Smart Update" button at the top of the screen!.... Wink... Wink...!

...which means my existing copy lasts forever, and does its job!...Wink...!

(I don't need to update anything! The program works just as it is...nothing requires updating, involving more expense!)...Wink..!

Paul... Smiley...!

...My Licence Key is held safely in my little Paper Notebook, together with all my other Licence Keys, etc, etc!...Wink...!
...and the program is stored safely on a CD...

I'd love to believe in something like this but if it's not in here:

http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1208959973

I'm reluctant to use it.  I won't even run CCleaner on my system.

I just clean out the stuff in the local settings and Windows temp folders, run the command line, and run the defrag.  I also have to delete a reg key once in a while from some startup program that installs (only ESET, nvidia drivers, and rivatuner I keep).
