In FS9 and FSX, is there a way to change the aircraft which appears on my screen during multiplayer when I do not have the other guy's aircraft files in my computer? Right now I see the other guy in a Cessna 172, and I'd much rather substitute one of my jets if he is actually flying a jet. Thanks!

The only way that you can ensure that everyone sees each others Aircraft correctly is;

You are ALL using the Default Aircraft.
You ALL have the exact same downloaded aircraft in your Hangars.

If you decide to use a downloaded P51, then everyone else has to have the exact same P51 Aircraft downloaded Aircraft in their Hangars for your Aircraft to display correctly to everyone else, and the same applies to everyone else!

For that reason I always try to use only DEFAULT Aircraft in my Multiplayer flights!

It's the way Multiplayer was designed to work!

Always start off with your selected Aircraft, and try not to change them for something else, mid-flight!

Otherwise, what you see, is not necessarily what everyone else sees.... Wink...!

What you need to do is log off MP, change to that jet yourself, then log back on....he should appear as the jet you're in, and all you need to do is swap back to the aircraft you want....

Don't remember if this works for FS9. but in FSX (FSHost Client) in an FSHost session bring up the MP Chat window. Right click on any player name and you'll see an option to change his/her aircraft to one in your hanger.

Edit: Fired up FS9 and the the option is not available in FS9.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.          Igor Sikorsky

You know....you can just rip up a to-do list.

Which is the reason why I always fly one of the Default Aircraft, in FS 2004 Multiplayer....

..or else, arrange in advance to select "downloaded" Aircraft, (with the same Textures!) which we will ensure that we all have in our Hangers, before the Flight starts!...Wink...!

FS 2004 Multiplayer prefers Default Aircraft... Wink...!
