Hi guys !
First of all, hello. I'm a newbie here on these forums but I am playing FS for quite a while now.
Since FSX arrived, I found that my computer isn't enough for a non-stressy flight because of frames under 20.
So I'm thinking of getting a new one but I have no clue where to start.
Also, an important side detail, is that it musn't be too expensive but I still want a good PC that can handle at least every FSX-setting at medium and some at high.
I also have a 22' screen so that affects frames to
Thank you very much,
Elias

And euhm, what should that cost ?
Because a quad-core CPU with 2.66Ghz cost already 500€or something..

Well i give the prices in dollars. extimated.
1 - you dont need a quad core ( FS9 only uses one core and FSX 3 max) you can get dual core at 3.0ghz for $80 to 150.
2 - Memory you can get 4 gb for $80 to 130
3 - video card $90 and 130
4 - PSu for $70 to 90
5 - Mb you can get those for $90 to 130.
With those 500 you can get a relative good machine. But you need to look.I will try to give you a "cheap list".
But with 500 euros you can get good material. Is that your budget?
i went with the values from cheap to max. So you can have an idea.
Keep us posted.
By the way where are you from?So you can adjust prices.
But for that demand of FSX you want you need to spend money.

@ grizzard : call me elias
and whoops, sorry..
@ 757 200ba : thanks ! Thats more what my budget is about
So if I would buy a new PC, should I just go to the pc shop and ask : I want a pc with this this and this, is it possible ? ;P
I live in Belgium so that means Euro
Can I buy cpu's etc. in the USA and use them in a belgian pc , because that would cost way less.
Thanks,
E-

We let another noob in? Sigh...When will we ever learn!
Welcome to the zoo, by the way. If you request help, you are required to submit your life's history, title to your first born and all your gold from World of Warcraft (send to Bootybyby).
But, you cant do wrong by asking for help here. These folks are golden.
Again, welcome to the wonderful world of computer updating, upgrading and pounding one's head into the wall. I prefer dry-wall to brick. It tends to give some.

Referencing your question about purchasing stuff in the US to take advantage of the exchange rate? I dont think it works that way for the more reputable sites (Newegg, etc.). I think they charge the Euro value added tax anyway. Or convert the currency to match your country of origin. Im not sure. Someone else fact check this for me.

Well you are right in your post. But i guess you need to tell us what is your budget.
To be honest if you build your machine it will be less expensive. Now do you know how to?
If you go ask to a shop they will try to give you what THEY want.
From yor specs.Well they are low.Memory its ok if you want FS9.Processor needs to go a bit faster.Graphic card....well nop.But like i said all depends in your budget and what you want from FS.We know money its short. If i was in your skin i would look something on ebay, sometimes you can find good deals. But we need to know "how much".We can talk about specs all evening, but the money you have its what it will say the rules.

Ok $600.
Well first you need to know what MB you have, to see if you can go with another processor. You can find faster AMD for less than $100.Then, and thinking that your MB can accept PCI-Exp. you can find a good card with 512megs between $80 and $150 (so $250 so far). Then we need to see your PSU (you can find a 650w for $80).Now ,and still thinking that your MB cames with PCI-exp and is not very old, we need to see memory.(so far we are on the $320 - + for budget)What kind of ram you have? DDR, DDR2 ? If not you can buy like 4gb for $60 ($380).IF all this cant go with your MB, then you need an MB, and one for $150 its already a good one ($530), maybe we can cut MB price depending in what you have and what you need.
Let me remind you that this upgrade will be ok for FS9, but medium FSX.
But i can also tell you that with $600 we can go many ways, to build a good and ACTUAL (if there is any) machine.
Keep us posted, you will be fine.
PS - Welcome to "HEL" of pc's
This is an example (i would still change the video card and be in budget) and some of those will hold FSX pretty well
http://cgi.ebay.com/INTEL-E7600-3-0GHz-DUAL-CORE-CUSTOM-COMPUTER-SYSTEM-NEW_W0QQ...
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Phenom-9650-QUAD-CORE-CPU-ASUS-M3A78-CM-4GB-kit_W0QQitem...
and still with $ for a good video card
In Belgium try those
http://cgi.befr.ebay.be/PC-NOUVEAU-AMD-X2-245-TOUTES-APPLICATIONS-ET-JOUEURS_W0Q...
Still money for video card
This one is ok
