OK I will. Is it OK to run it again without doing anything else first--even if they are already there?

FSX runs fine... the problem
is you or your system

Its always best to get into the habit of installing chipset drivers before anything else goes in however it should not create any problem

If you did not install those when you installed the other drivers then they are not in the system and Windows is using the generic MS drivers for the chipset

and no, it wont hurt anything to install again

Today my son got to the top of descent into SFO after flying all the way from Newark.

Everything was fine then crash. Back to desktop like FS9 had never been running at all.

There was an error box left by FDC Live Cockpit
Error 6: Overflow in 'updateblackbox' routine

He's upset obviously and doesn't understand how others with more than we have--and less powerful computers--can run cockpits that behave exactly like a real airliner and never crash. I do feel sorry for him. This is a important hobby for him and he loves it.

I don't know what else to do.

Seems this topic has kinda wandered abit.  LOL  However, simply to jump in, I have FS2K, FS9, and FSX on my computer.   I know a lot of folks really like FSX, however, I find that I tend to fly FS9 more often.  Part of the reason, as there are several parts, is the scenery. (i.e., When at Friday Harbor in FX there are few buildings.  On FS9 there are a number of buildings including the terminal, a couple hangars close by, and a group of hangars with their own taxi apron.)   I have noticed that several models in FSX tend to not function in as far as doors, etc. I realize this is a design problem and not FSX.  For whatever reason, most of the aircraft I have in FS9 (I have several hundred) seem to function well as far as animations.  I also enjoy being able to start out in the cockpit.  Also, FS9 allows one to easily adjust how far from the aircraft one wishes to view....I have yet to find this adjustment on FSX.  Ooops, ran out of time.

From my experience, FS9 has a more realistic flight feel than FSX. Even if the graphics aren't as good, overall the entire simulation seems more like an actual flight. I don't know if I'm explaining that correctly or not.

However, I also find that the graphics can be as good or better just due to the number of scenery products that are NATIVE to FS9. Since I use a projector at a lower resolution, the scenery looks BETTER to me since I can have all the sliders maxed out in FS9 and must pull them back in FSX.

If I can only figure out why I am crashing when switching from windowed mode to full screen I'd be perfect.....
